If historians have already reviewed and copied them then how would this re-write history?

As new books came out this information wouldn't be there, and since the information has been re-classified they wouldn't be allowed to put it in future editions of the text books. Thus events that happened and were ok to discuss before have been removed from public access.

Couldn't they just access what other historians have documented and copied?

But if it was classified they couldn't put it in updated textbooks.

This is beside the point I think. Why are they reclassifying them? That's what the question should be. Anything which reduces transparency at the executive level is potentially very bad.

Cheney Lies To High Schoolers About Debunked Iraq/al Qaeda Connection

“Addressing about 100 wide-eyed Wyoming high school students learning about government and the political process,” Vice President Cheney yesterday repeated one of the key fabrications that helped send the United States into war.

During the question and answer session, one student asked, “I was wondering — I’m not trying to start a debate, or anything, but do you still think that the Iraq war can be won?” Cheney immediately answered “yes,” adding, “I think we’re making significant progress now.”

He then launched into a justification of the war, citing the September 11 attacks. “The fact of the matter is Iraq is part of the global war on terror,” he told the students. “And you’ve got to go back and look at what happened on 9/11.” Cheney recounted the tale of the late al-Qaeda operative Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, one of the administration’s great pre-war myths:

The implication that Zarqawi helped justify the war was thoroughly debunked last year by the Senate Intelligence Committee, then chaired by Bush loyalist Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS.) It found:

Didn't the Admin. do this already with presidential papers? Removing material that had previously been declassified from teh Reagan and Bush 41 Admins.

To make comparisons with George Bush and Saddam Hussein is blasphemous and out of line.

Saddam didn't fail in keeping Iraq stable.

That last comment has just been deemed classified and is no longer available for public viewing.

Bush is way better then Saddam because Bush actually has WMD in his arsenal.
