    Hey guys,

I've got a question about the return policy at Wal-Mart. A friend of mine gave me Silent Hill 2 for my birthday.

This game contains some pretty gory stuff in it, and while it doesn't bother me so much, I've got a little brother to worry about playing it, and my girlfriend doesn't much like it either. To tell the truth, some of the stuff in the game is rather disturbing.

My friend lost the reciept, but he said that he got it at Wal-Mart. The game is barely played and still has the box and booklet. I've been told Wal-Mart has a policy of pretty much taking everything back, with or without a reciept. Do you think that they would be willing to take back the game in exchange for another one?

If any of you guys have any first hand knowledge about this stuff that would be quite helpful.

    Matt

i bought a playstation 2 game madden 2001 this past summer from wal-mart, and the darn thing was scratched...

I usually don't keep my receipts so i thought i wouldn't be able to get a refund or exchange it...but i went to wal-mart anyway...the customer desk that is...and they let me exchange it...

pretty nice people, so I'm sure you have a good shot at exchanging it for a different game...I know that with software, once it is open they can't give you a refund. But you can exchange it. That is one thing i know for sure.

    Good luck with it!

You can't get a refund and you can only exchange it for the SAME game you bought, I tried this with a PSOne game I bought about 2.5 years ago, called Parappa the Rapper and they said I could exchange it for the same thing but not another game.

If it is damaged and they let you exchange it for a new unopened one just take it to like bestbuy or somewhere and exchange it saying it was a present and you want a different game or something like that.

    Lil Pun is right.

I bought Ecco the Dolphin on Genesis without having played it first. The game sucked bad. So I had my dad take me to Best Buy to exchange it for another game. I worked my way up to the manager and he said there was really nothing he could do except exchange it for the same game since I had opened it. If it was unopened then I could have exchanged it for any game or gotten a refund.

Get an unopened one for sure if they let you exchange it. At the very least you will be able to sell it on ebay for a price that is higher then the one for the opened game.

Evil?? Hehehe, I used to do this all the time back when I was addicted to the Street Fighter II Series. When the first Turbo came out, I went to Target to exchange it for the same exact one but got one back that was unopened. Then went to Toys R Us and exchanged it for Turbo edition and just paid the difference. Hell i did for alot games, like Mortal Kombat. I havent done it recently because I just see it as a waste of time. But if I was desperate enough, I wouldnt mind going down memory lane :D. A little warning about Wal-mart. When you return something without a reciept, they take down your License number and keep it in their database. One time, I exchanged 3 games in one month without a reciept and the manager called me out the third time because she noticed that I have made exchanges a few times without my reciept. I knew they were suspious of my act. :D

I was gonna echo Iron McFist's idea -- return it for a non-scratched one, then go to a different Wal-Mart, say you got is as a gift, and if you can get store credit for it. They'll say "yes".

A lot of times they will do that. Vengeance has the best idea. Ususally under a certain amount.
