As far as I can see, in those seasons at least 9 guys played 10+ minutes each game, and at least 8 averaged close to 20 mpg.

The rest were simply scrubs that were never worth playing anywhere.

there's not enough statistical data on VSpan to prove or disprove anything, Sam. It's the anti-VSpan who keeps trying to use statistical minutia to prove he can't play. Go back to bed and count Boki 3 balls and dunks until you go to sleep. :D

Why do you guys have so much faith in him? I certainly want him to do well, but he hasn't done anything to make me think he will. I didn't here you guys screaming when Serge Zwikker was riding the pine.

Yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyep................just like our Rox. Look, he only really plays 7 guys. Sure, you can look at a few numbers and figure out that in some games where there were injuries or a major blowout, some scrub gets in the game and plays double digit minutes, but then when you looked at his games played, you discover he only played in 12 games.

Van Gundy runs his teams into the ground year after year.

This element of revisionist history is particularly hilarious and recent BBS development. If that is what JVG does than what does Mike D'Antoni do?

Why don't you show some historical evidence of this instead of just spouting off random crap that you are pretending is true? It should be very easy to do - the data is there.

Or why don't you just save us all the time by telling us how many kisses you want to plant on Spanoulis' hairy neck? We all know that that is what this is about.

Why do you have so little faith in him, other than JVG refusing to play him cause he didn't want him from the start, so was showing up rocket's management.

Please we don't need visions of him kissing Vspan's hairy neck anymore than we need visions of you kissing Jeff Van Yesterday's hairy ass.

Speaking of hairy-atrics, whatever happened to Matt Haryasz? He wasn't a JVG PF -- could he be a RA PF?

Given that none of the other teams in the league signed him, he wasn't much of anyone's PF.

Idiotic, ill-thought out posts like this are stupid and useless, but at least they don't have manufactured basketball theories that aren't supported by the facts, which ultimately I think ruin the discussion more than trash like this.

It's not that we have so much faith in him, at least it isn't for me. It's the fact that he was not given a chance when Rafer was throwing up 3 for 14 performances and giving us less than nothing on the offensive end along with being a sieve on defense. VSpan was not developed and it should have been obvious that with Rafer playing 40 MINUTES PER GAME and shooting an abysmmal 35% from the field, that VSpan needed to be given a few minutes. We've been over this a hundred times. We lost to Utah because our offense wasn't good enough. Most of us knew by midseason it wasn't good enough. We knew we couldn't rely on Rafer standing out there taking potshots from 3, when his shooting was so terrible and then when he was forced to the rim, it was even worse.

For me, it was never about having so much faith in VSpan. It was about losing all faith in Rafer.

^ Yah but what if Vspan was worse than Rafer? I know it's hard to imagine, but it is possible.

Where are SamFisher and NIKEStrad when we want to look at VSpan's team-leading per 40-minute stats in his first NBA playoff series?

D'Antoni doesn't run his team into the ground. D'Antoni runs his team into games and out of games. They run, run, run and don't ever make stops, stops, stops. That's why SA chewed them up. They can't stop a good, patient half court offense. But D'Antoni didn't run them into the ground. You gotta play defense to be run into the ground.

Don't you remember those Knick teams, Sam? A bunch of grinders, all banged up come playoff time, Ewing missing whole playoff series. Van Gundy is a classic grinder. He's a very good coach. But he grinds his teams down because he plays his top 7 players so many minutes, even in games that are already won or lost. How many times did we see games this season where we were either up 20 or down 20 going into the 4th and he doesn't break out the bench until there is 5 minutes left???? That was a constant them in NY too.

In case you don't remember all those Knick teams, every one of them faded. Even the 1999 team that he took to the Finals was so worn down they weren't any competition for SA.
