I agree. I am fairly certain that most people in this thread do not hate Spanoulis. Rather, they just want him to play better.

Can someone please answer that? I remember it got locked immediately. This could help dispel or confirm whether JVG did have a say in personnel.

i went to one of the jvg breakfasts last year and he was all over mike james. he wanted that guy back real bad.

i believe in the thread that was closed, the guy they were talking was, believe it or not, bonzi wells. clutch would have to confirm if he chooses to. that's why it seems so weird for me to read posts that claim jvg never wanted bonzi to begin with. that's bullsh!t.

in other news that doesn't matter now, jvg told us he wanted tyrus thomas if he could choose anyone in the draft.

No you got the players mixed up. It was vspan that jvg never wanted to begin with. It was common knowledge that JVG wanted bonzi. Him and the rockets were recruiting bonzi hard during free agency, when he became a viable option, since he could no longer get a big contract. That's why I was so hard on jvg over bonzi. He went to bonzi and tried to recruit him, not the other way around. Then as repayment for choosing to sign with the rockets over another team such as the nuggets, JVG stabbed bonzi in the back and ruined his season. Talk about bonzi's character all you want, but this was all known before hand, yet JVG still went after him in the summer.

    http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/4196635.html

Free agent Bonzi Wells met with Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy and general manager Carroll Dawson on Monday at Toyota Center as the Rockets stepped up their long-shot pursuit of the veteran guard.

Though the Rockets are limited by the salary cap and some of their free-agent spending this summer, Wells has clearly not ruled out the Rockets while also considering the Nuggets, Heat and Bobcats.

I've heard the rumor many times that the player JVG asked for over and over again was Matt Harpring. Interesting to say the least.

No, the rockets are over the cap and with either bonzi or vspan or both leaving, it will not free up anymore money for the rockets to sign FAs. Rockets max will still only be a MLE offer to any FA.

I don't know if this has been posted before but here are some quotes -translated from Greek- by Stojakovic on VSpan.

    Peja on Adelman and Spanoulis:
"Adelman is a very good coach. We worked together for seven and a half years, during the period that I played for the Kings that is, and I have only good words to say. Coach Adelman manages to get the best out of his players on the court, and this is very important for themselves and the team as well. ... He has had excellent collaboration with all European players who played for Sacramento. This fact proves that he can help Spanoulis now that they are going to work together in Houston. I think he will help Spanoulis to make it with the Rockets. I know Vassilis, I've met him and I can say he's a very good guy and very good player. Adelman will help, I believe things will be better but everything will depend on Vassilis. He will have to make a strong effort and fight, but he is able to be successfull. He already knows it doesn't matter where you come from, or who you were before coming to the nba, but what you do in the nba and how much you try. A little more patience is needed and a lot of work."

    Peja on Spanoulis (sport24.gr):
"I met Vassilis this year. He needs patience. He left everything behind him to pursue a career in the nba, which is a very difficult thing to achieve, that is to earn playing time. He needs to show consistency because there are 82 games in the regular season. He didn't have any close friend like I used to have (side note: I think he means Vlade Divac) to advise him on his attitude. He spoke a little too fast."

PS: Peja holds Greek along with his Serbian citizenship and goes to Thessaloniki every summer, his wife is also Greek (she used to be a model). He used to play for PAOK Thessaloniki before joining the nba--in his last year with PAOK he was coached by Scott Skiles over there.

So just because we signed the ignorant fat lazy ars Bonzi in FA, Gundy should of started him? Screw the fact that he never got in shape and missed numerous practices. Pa lease, Gundy didnt not play Bonzi because of his numerous character flaws. He didnt get playing time because he didnt put in the work to deserve it. This is exactly why he will not get an offer for more money than he is making right now with us. He and his agent are finding that out right now. That unfortunatly means we are stuck with that peice of **** for another year. :(

true, jvg had every right to not play bonzi, but that doesn't mean hes going to be a piece of **** this year. don't you remember who are new coach is? rick!!! rick is way better at developing players and getting the most out of a player. jvg, who was always a great defensive coach, just doesn't know how to make life easier for yao and tmac. or prehaps other players. you got to find ways that work for the kind of players you have. the only offense we had going was when yao goes low post. despite the fact yao turnes the ball over due to putting the ball on the floor, or a defender flops, yao got tired, and then, we can;t score at all. tracy, then has to pick up some slack by himself, and he just can't do it by himself. rafer, he has wonderful handles, but what did coach do to put those handles into points? he wanted rafer to shoot. come on, you need to know a players weakness, and a players strenght. also, what made me mad was, jvg said he wanted his players to be taller and more athletic. cd, did a wonderful job, and gave him, bonzi, snyder, and vspan. none of those players got playing time. and his 8 man rotation was stupid and r****ded. we don't have the players to have an 8 man rotation like phoneix. yao doesn't play for 35 minutes + and still have the same effectiveness as he did in the beggining. same with rafer. how many times have we seen yao score our first 4-6 points in 3 minutes, and then slows down and gets tired, by the 3rd-4th period? yao just doesn't have the stamina as he used to in the beggining of the season due to the surgery he had.

More revisionist history. JVG already said bonzi not playing was not just an in shape issue and that was just a cover. Bonzi was in shape and ready to play, but JVG just didn't like him, so sacrificed winning in the playoffs just to stick it to bonzi.

Are you kidding? Bonzi was in shape? That is the funniest damn thing I have heard posted here in years. No sane individual would look at Bonzi and think he was anything close to being in shape. Dude was sweating mayonnaise when he was on the court.

I am starting to think you are just trying to get attention with your rants. You can't possibly believe the garbage that you are posting.

Bonzi has always been big. He may not have been at his ideal playing weight right from the start, but he was in shape not too far into the season. To say otherwise is just ridiculous.

I'm surprised that people are just now coming to this realization. The dude has been pure trollbait and is setting a record as far as post/meaningful contribution ratio.

And you're setting a record for most flames against one poster. Is it 15,000 posts now talking about dadakota?
