The sonics are doing everything to keep him. the Rockets are hoping to entice him with clyde sweet talking home and the family factor kicks in.
I really like the idea of getting sarunas. this guy was a pretty handy player in Indiana and was a star in the olympics. he could be a diamond in the rough.he a solid mid range shooter and a very good 3 point shooter.
My point is that if Lewis reaches a deal with Rockets, then SnT some expiring contracts with Rockets will at least help SSonics somewhat than Sonics just let Lewis walk.
nice points Lewis taking the MLE seems highly unlikely unless he believes he is going to get a huge shoe deal with a chinese firm or something
very true. shane and sura would work well for roughly $9M... and that includes $4M coming off the books fairly soon. seattle might like having a tradable asset (bat) and saving some money (sura), while adding another first in a deep draft. lewis would take a slightly smaller deal than he could land in the open market but he will play for a contender, and for his hometown. and besides... i'd still make the move for wilcox as a plan B.
So ineffect it' upto rashard to force the sonics into a deal with us. i hope clyde turns the charm meter into overdrive.
Man, if his 3pt is really that good, believe me he would have seen plenty of court time under Don Nelson...
a:howard's contract is not expiring b:Sonics can get much better than expiring contracts, some even think battier+pick are not enough
agreed. he could be really usefull under adleman. he's VERY polished on the offensive end. so far in his career he hasn't fit in well in indy because he couldn't play any defense...then in GS there is just no time for him in that backcourt. here under adleman he might be one of the most improved players next season. however, i still think billy has a chance to be the better nba player. his ability to get to the hoop and defense (lets not forget that he's a very creative passer as well) is exactly what we need for this team.
If battier can land a shoe brand in china, you would think it would be a given for a star like lewis.
They better not give up Battier in a S&T for either Lewis or Wilcox, especially Wilcox. Wilcox has yet to shown he can produce consistently. Battier for Wilcox is overpaying.
I think it is Adelman who is initating all this moves. he belives sarunas can be very effective in he's system along with lewis and james..
Also, I'm not sure how free agency will play out, but sicne Lewis is free to go where he wants, Sonics don't really have much leverage-- thus, again, no need to give up Batttier. Besides, who is going to take on the tough defensive wing assignment now? McGrady? Leiws? Can you see either of these guys guarding Ben Gordon most of the game?
Good to see that the rumors are starting to trickle in... I'm sure Seattle will get a better deal for Lewis than we're able to offer, but I'm glad to hear that we're making a run at anybody and everybody.
agreed another thing I dont think Rashard at the 4 is a good idea looking at all the top teams right now ie spurs, jazz, pistons, cavs the teams all have a BIG PF putting Rashard at the 4 is going to be a rebounding nightmare for us
Maybe snyder will be given a bigger role. he can play defense and is veru atheletic. snyder would thrive in a Adelman system.
Battier fallen out of favor because he doesn't score well? He is a good shooter and you need that with Adelman's system, too. He's like Doug Christie, who had his best years in Sacramento. People think Adelman doesn't like defense and that's just not true. In any case, they better not trade Battier.
