agreed. i do think that Hakeem avg more turnover / game. that's the only advantage Duncan has over the Dream.
Again, total myth. Chris Webber, Kevin Garnett, Shaq, Dirk, Yao, Jermaine Oneal, Zach Randolph, Dwight Howard, Okafor, Rasheed, etc. This idea that there are no longer any good big men is stupid. Not all of them are amazing of course, but the idea that Duncan just doesn't face the competition is ridiculous. He stands out because he is an amazing talent. I do think he has better supporting cast and a better organization than Hakeem ever had, but discounting him because of the competition is weak.
true that. it was generally accepted that Dream was the second best Center of his time, second to the overrated Patrick Ewing who happened to play in the media capital of the world
During the regular season? Sure, Duncan's TO numbers are slightly better (2.96 for Dream and 2.88 for Duncan). During the playoffs? Duncan's TO's jump (3.18) and Dream's drop (2.92). Advantage Dream... lower turnovers when it counted the most. I would add that if one considers how Dream played, his style, and how much he handled the ball, those numbers are remarkable.
wnes has a unique talent to rewrite history to suit his theories - sounds familiar..maybe it's not unique. Anyway - he's right this time. JVG held the Rockets hostage for a whole 2-3 days before he decided to come back - Adelman was going to be offered the job at Hickory High in Indiana and was as good as gone. That Jimmy Driftwood is a coach's dream. He makes Battier look like Bonzi Wells.
luffy...worst coach in rockets history??????? you must know how biased that sounds. and i am not a spanoulis hater. i just think he is an average player not ready to play yet in the nba. that is all
talking sense to luffy is like trying to hump a brick wall...you wont get very far and ultimately it just becomes painful
I only speak the truth. Some people may not like the truth and that is their prerogative. It's a free country.
you are an idiot.....why don't you read this and maybe it will change your NON Rocket Fan opinion...WTF are you doing on this site anyways.....I don't care, just read this..its coming from one your beloved MJ's teammates who played against dream and during the bulls championship runs.... http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=130271
Of course he's an idiot, he's also dishonest in his argument... I had no idea the Spurs won with a team of Duncan, Elie, Jackson, and a bunch of nobodies... Did Robinson miss the '99 season? Did Avery Johnson? Robinson, Parker and Ginobili were also key players in their second championship, as well. But the point of his argument was to try and sell the idea that Duncan was the only "constant," and basically the only reason why the Spurs won. Duncan has always been surrounded by all-star teammates, good role players, and a great coach. Duncan is a great player, Olajuwon was better.
i guess that makes Dirk a center too since he is taller than Hakeem....you my friend, are beyond stupid...i don't know how people like you dress your selves every morning and make it thru the day...
exactly, it kills me that people don't realize how dominant he was when he came into the league. I guess I'm getting older and younger guys just weren't around to witness. Hakeem was an all-star from year two I believe, maybe year 1 and he was just relentless every night.
Relentless... a word you couldn't use too much to describe the Dream. If Yao could only capture some of that in a bottle and have a sip before each game!
Not only did you have Chris Webber in 1995, you had a much better and younger Shaq, David Robinson, Hakeem, Patrick Ewing, Vlade Divac, Alonzo Mourning, a dominating Deke, Rik Smits, Shawn Kemp, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Vin Baker (actually good back then), and Derrick Coleman. I'm not even including Larry Johnson and Horace Grant. Learn your history man! Hakeem had much tougher competition then. Duncun goes up against far more one-dimensional players. He get's to play an old Chris Webber or Shaq. Rasheed Wallace isn't going to be remembers in five years even. I mean, it's not even close. 1995 was the year of the center - with Robinson, Shaq, and Hakeem all advancing to at least the conference finals. And Patrick Ewing making it the year before. What dominanting big man do you see in the playoffs now? Duncun? Yao, Dirk, Howard didn't make it out of the first round. Webber is a bench player. Rasheed wallace puts up less then 15 pts and 8 rebounds a night. KG, Jermaine, Okafur, and Zach didn't even MAKE the playoffs. Clearly you're a new NBA fan.
As a Rockets fan, it's better to be biased towards the Rockets than towards an ex-coach. And no, I don't think wnes is biased on this issue at all, JVG stalled the Rockets for two weeks without giving them a clue on whether he wants to come back, to prevent being stalled indefinitely, Les cut him off.
