People have ex-girlfrienditis. They forget why they broke up with her in the first place and want her back cause they only remember the happy times.

But Steve was that ugly ex-gf who constantly talks too much and doesn't care about what others have to say, got a little too close to one of her gf's, and gets upset when you separate them. Of course, she has a big heart and a lot of passion for the relationship, but you eventually had to dump her for Carmen Electra.

    No regrets.

In this case, Francis is the chick you go out with when your wallet's empty.

Man what has this board come to. First people want Bonzi back. Now they are talking about Artest? Christ almighty what is wrong with you people? Screw it lets do it. Then we can trade Yoa for Kobe, bring back Eddie Griffin and trade TMac for Iverson.
    C-Griffen
    PF-Bonzi
    SF-Artest
    SG-Kobe
    PG-Iverson
We can become the Raiders of the NBA.

By the way has anyone noticed that VSpan has been mentioned here several times and no reply from double D?

Steve is the true love. McGrady is the woman that your parents threaten to cut you off from your inheritance if you don't marry.

-caught between the moon and New York City.

Getting Francis on the cheap would be great. Giving him the full MLE would be incredibly stupid. All of his heart can't make up for the fact that he's dumber than a box of hammers on the court. Now he's an *aging* undersized guard with bad knees. Could he spell Alston nicely on this team? Sure. That's about all you can reasonably expect. He should be paid like any other back up point guard.

Im all for a little Franchise nostalgia.

would make my franchise_3@hotmail.com email address that i've had for years a lot less embarassing.

just hope we dont have a big game that coincides the Superbowl.

Steve Francis drove me crazy when he was here. He and Cat didn't get the label "Dumb and Dumber" by accident, they earned it. BUT Rafer has made me remember more of the positives, like shooting, driving, rebounding. Surely Steve has matured. If the price is right, why not. The Rockets could do worse.

I can't see the Knicks buying out Francis who clearly still has value. The Knicks will try to trade him and will wait to see if a team like the Nets have interest after trading Jason Kidd.

Isiah isn't a fool - Francis would have to forgo a big chunck of his contract and basically make himself even more toxic to the knicks then he already is.

I can. Why would they do that? Its the smart thing to do.

Since when? How far over the cap are they? How many bad contracts do they have? How many games have they won since hes been there?

Now I see why you have 1000+ posts and you're still a rookie. Lack of judgement.

I don't see him getting bought out either. He would have to agree to a reduced amount. Maybe he would agree to a buyout of about 20mill, instead of the ~34mill he is due, if he knew he could get a a full MLE deal from the Rockets.

News was that Steve Francis was going to agree to take about $10 million less than what he was due over the next 2 years for the buyout, which translates to about $20 million given the luxury tax. Given the roster there, it does make some sense for the Knicks to choose the $20 million over Steve playing.

If Francis gets healthy, he can absolutely help this team. He has is flaws, but so do Yao and Tracy, but people forget how talented he is. Not every player has to be Michael Jordan or Hakeem Olajuwon to help a team.

No one in their right mind would ever trade for that contract. I don't care how desperate the Nets are, they would rather play Marcus Williams than pay for that bloody contract.

Either he stays with the Knicks or gets bought out. There are no other ways around that.

I was thinking that they would play Marcus Williams OVER Steve. I mean, wasn't he brought in to the Nets to be Kidd's successor?

If Nets trade Jason Kidd, then they are in rebuilding mode -- why in the world would they want Francis in that case? If Isiah Thomas really believes that, he either is really naive, or he is a fool.

Well then that's why they wont go for Francis. No one's going to pay max money to a backup point guard.
