You are missing the point here IMO....Don't start talking about V-Span's PT and whether he should start or play 15-20 min and stuff like that. Let's wait for him to announce his decision...
For someone who can read both English and Greek articles efficiently, can figure out that Spanoulis PROBABLY WILL RETURN BACK TO GREECE.
This is the problem of translation of cource....it could lead to huge misundertandings..
Spanoulis clearly said tha he has made his decision and will try to straight things up...BUT he has a contract with Houston so, their opinion counts as well..thw way i read this it's like: I made my decision and i want to play for Panathinaikos but, since i have a contract with Rox, it's up to them to either let me go back home or not...

Sorry about this, i really wath Span to try another year in NBA,but it seems he doesn't want to take that risk again

Ok, I could be wrong after all...

Adelman called Span to tell him he is in his plans for next year... Will translate the full article once I get some time....

Should be reliable cause it's from sport24.gr which also runs Span's blog...

Are you sure about that translation because I have a Greek friend who read it for me and said it sounded like he said "He made his decision and the fact that he had a contract with the Rockets weighed heavily on his decision. And then proceeds to talk about Adelman and how he is very different than JVG and that he hasn't talked to Adelman personally but others have told him this. He does mention Panathinokos but only in terms of what other people are saying on the street "if he will return". But nowhere does he mention he wants to play for them.

If his decision was to leave why would he even mention Adelman or the good things he heard about him. And why would he say that the fact that he had a contract with the Rockets weighed heavily on his decision. How could he state that he has made his decision already if he doesn't even know if the Rockets will release him from his contract. I think all he is saying is that because he is under contract he feels obligated to return to the Rockets and if the situation was different perhaps he would consider returning to Greece committed to the Rockets by contract he feels he should honor that.

Can someone who is very fluent in Greece please translate the whole article.

Alex please translate asap... I read in babelfish and it sounds like it said Any thought of V-Span not returning have been extinguished after Adelman called him to let him know he believes in him and he wants him on the roster. It also said the Adelman sees him as a significant part of the team. Correct me if I am wrong. Good news I hope.

Thanks for the info - looking forward to the translation. I'm curious to see Span give it another try, let's see what he can contribute under Adelman.

Wow, Vspan came from Larisa. A female friend of mine also came from there, and she said that larisa is the hometown of Achilles, is there any chance that Vspan is related to him?

I'm interested in seeing Yao, Hakeem, and Vspan practicing... It'll be like a bunch of Rocky's babbling about nothing. Nobody will understand.

Anyways.. I'm certain that Vspan will stay for another year if he has half a brain. It would be pretty stupid for him to not give it another try for at least one more year. Even if he goes back to Greece and gets more money and becomes a legend, people will still view him as that European guy who couldn't make it in the big leagues.

    There you go:

Rick Adelman's phonecall to Vassilis Spanoulis was a clear message. "I'm counting on you" (translator's note: literal translation, in greek it has the meaning of : "You're in my plans" rather than the more major role it insinuates in english ) said the new Rockets coach to the greek play-maker.

In their conversation, Adelman made it clear that he is in his plans for next season, while also mentioning he couldnt see how it was possible for him to receive such little PT this last season.

From the new Houston head-coach's move, we can assume that the team really wants to keep him and since the Rockets have the last word (since he is bound by last year's 3-year contract) the most likely scenario is for Vspan to continue in the NBA next year.

Why wouldn't he anyway since any doubts he might've had were erased after Rick Adelman's phone call which was a rare move in order to show the player that he believes in him and wants him in the team's roster next year.

He spoke to him while considering him as a Rockets player (translator's note: exact expression is hard to translate. Basically means that he spoke to him as if there's no speculation about his future and that he considers him a "full" rockets player) somethign that ruins Panathinaikos and Olympiakos plans' who were both glad about the playmaker's possible return. And if Olympiakos would offer him great money for him to move to the port (translator's note: port of Peiraias=Olympiakos home) Panathinaikos would've been the first choice.

"If I return to Greece, my first option would be Panathinaikos" Spanoulis had said as soon as he landed at Eleftherios Venizelos airport in May. The transatlantic phonecall however seems to confirm the stories that see him wearing the Rockets jersey again next season.

Greek is a very colourful language and Greek sportswriters are even more colourful. They often use "strong" words which can come across stronger then expected in translations particularly those horrible online ones. In his blog the meaning I get is I've made my decision.(but) I am under contract so the Rockets also have a say in what happens.

Anyway what is important is that his blog was posted on the 30th and the Adelman story on the 1st therefore no matter wat his decision was Adelmans call could have changed it.

Very good translation Alex. Good job explaining those "strong" words I mentioned cause they can cause a lot of confusion.

Is there an talk on the subject on PAO forums with any inside info??
