Like how JVG claimed Les wanted the Rockets to be more Phoenix-like but as Jonathan Feigen noted in his blog Les has never been on record saying that.

Yup another JVG lie. Les doesn't want to play the same style of run and gun like phoenix. All he wanted was to concentrate on offense a bit more and to play a bit more up tempo. JVG always like to distort the truth and use hyperbole though. Frankly, after the "great" JVG "defense" that got us exactly no where in 4 years, I welcome a change to a more offensive system. Afterall as bill walton always like to point out, JVG's defense was fake anyways cause it was a result of slowing the game down and having few possessions per game, which inflated the defensive numbers.

I JUST WANT TO CLARIFY THAT I NEVER SAID MR SPANOULIS HE COULD NOT PLAY I JUST THOUGHT HE NEVER EARNED MORE PLAYING TIME BECAUSE OF TURNOVERS AND LOOKING TERRIBLE ON COURT. ALSO T-MAC IS DOING HER WHY CAN'T I DO HER TOO? WANTED TO MAKE THAT CLEAR THAT IS ALL FOR NOW.

call me crazy but i say we throw him into the fire next season. make him the starter and let him develop quickly.

his has enough talent already to contribute. what he needs in nba experience. give it to him by the boatload.

start him. play him a lot. it's done very well for parker, kirilenko, nocioni, kristic, and diaw. benching young players with talent because they don't have experience hasn't donw well for darko, and the atlanta version of diaw.

Isn't shooting and missing nearly equivalent to a turnover sans Vspan?

it depends what kind of turnover and what kind of missed shot it is. a pass into the hands of a defender that is jumping into the lane probably leads to an easy fastbreak bucket. on the other hand, a missed 3 pter by rafer could also lead to a long rebound and an outlet pass for an easy fastbreak bucket. from my observations, vspan had several turnovers from traveling, stepping out of bounds, or throwing the ball out of bounds. those turnovers are not only correctable, they are less harmful than rafer's bricks because they result in a dead ball. vspan did have his share of passing to the other team, but in light of how few minutes he played, and how sporadically those minutes were given to him, the number of those turnovers wasn't surprising.

regardless of how bad vspan was last year or how good he could be in the future, reading this thread and countless others like it make it easy to see the optimists from the masochists. why wouldn't everyone on this board hope for the best for vspan as long as he is a rocket? he hasnt been a cancer or disruption to the team, even if you perceive his comments as blatant whining. so im going to keep hoping for the best and root for vspan to become an allstar. just like i rooted for stro to become a stud on our team. the masochists can sit here and chide the rest of us for hoping and rooting for unproven players, but all you're really saying is that you're not willing to take a chance, and isnt that the essence of what makes team sports so enjoyable? so the rest of us will root for the underdog, and you can stay on that thick limb and root for the easy picks. might as well start rooting for the spurs or mavs while you're at it.

Actually, I already had member status until recently when I was downgraded to rookie. Not sure what caused it, but was probably the almu thread. Surprising, considering someone like sam fisher can basically flame and name call anyone who disagrees with him, but he's immune from the rules cause he has contributing member status.

Would I call him a liar? no. More of a case of hyperbole misconstrued by certain posters to win an arguement, yes.

Yeah he wasn't "on record" because it wasn't a public statement. Doesn't mean that it didn't happen.

EDIT hooroo - I just searched all of Feigen's blogs dating back to game 7 and could not find him noting that. Do you have a link, or is this just....hyperbole, fabricated by you to win an argument?

i do remember feigan writing that, i think it might have been a chronicle article not on his blog.

either way, you're right, just because it wasn't public doesn't mean he didn't say it.

I can't wait to see how VSpan is used by RA in his offensive schemes. VSpan should have no excuses come next season in getting some pt since RA will wipe the slate clean concerning all players.

    Good.

    Couple of things though:

1.) I know this is a paraphrased translation, but the ONLY factor is the fact that he has a contract. It was his rookie year. I get being pissed about not playing enough, but to even consider "other " factors in a decision to come back is immature. He came to the right decision, I just hope he hasn't viewed it as "having" to come back...

2.) If he "needs the ball in his hands" to be successful, he & the Rocketrs are ****ed. Adelman's offense is about passing and movement without the ball in large part. Also, with Yao, Tracy, Battier, Head, any prime FA, and (unfortunately) Rafer ahead of him in the give-shots-to department, he shouldn't get his hopes up about taking more than a handful of shots even in Adelman's offense.

Again, I'm on record as not being an Adelman-hire fan, and I still believe Vspan should play limited (10-12 pg) minutes until his attitude and game come correct, but I hope he makes an impact.

I'll be in Greece in a few weeks, I'll see what the sports papers are saying there. Side note, I hope he doesn't spend too much time in Larisa this summer. That place bites. It's hotter than hell there!

You're a young millionaire now dude - hit Athens & the islands!

I agree is V-Mac is still on the team he will get a chance to contribute. The proof is in the Hot Dog!

JVG has nightmares about playing Rookie Greek Players! :D

you really need to stop posting

you seriously hate this dude and keep denying him thread after thread

I wish there was something like a thread-blocker for you guys..

you analyze him more than some of us who are in favor of Span....its absurd

why is it so hard to give this guy a chance and have him play some regular minutes?! if he sucks we will all know, the management will know and he will be shipped out!...according to alex we still don't know if he definitely will stay in Houston!?

I hope he does, gets his share of minutes and shows what he's really capable of..

Ahhh, my own personal BBS stalker shows up.

Where do you see "hate" in my post?

Objectivity does not equal hate. Also, are you semi-r****ded? You must be to confuse words like "hope" and "good" in my post with "hate."

I'm Greek, I want nothing but success for my fellow Greek. That said, I am a ROCKETS fan before I am a fan of ANY player. Greek or not.

You are so blinded by the sweat dripping off Vspan's balls into your eyes that you confuse objective analysis about Vspan with hate for him.

    LMAO!

    Deem me whatever you want!

It's genetically impossible for me to hate VSpan though, as we share the same ethnicity.

I do hate some of his actions & the actions of some of the people who surrounded him in Houston who were whispering in his ear that the Rockets were screwing him over.

I wish nothing but the best for him. I hope he succeeds with us.

It's just that there's a right way and a wrong way to go about this, and he went about it the wrong way lasy year, in my opinion.
