Great trade. Battier ads class, confidence, good defense, good spot-up shooting and sets a great example.

Rockets need to do something ballsy like try to trade Battier for Noah.

You're entitled to your opinion. And if the past is any indication, you've never let facts get in the way of your opinion...

FACT: The Spurs took 200 fewer FGA's than Houston in 06-07.

FACT: Standstill shooters don't get fouled as frequently

FACT: Drivers and penetrators get fouled more frequently.

OPINION: Michael Finley can't/doesn't drive anymore.
FACT: Finley shoots more FT's per 40 minutes played than Luther Head, Shane Battier, Chuck Hayes and JLIII. Finley is fractionally behind Rafer Alston in this category.

OPINION: Robert Horry doesn't/can't drive to the basket any longer.
FACT: Robert Horry shoots more FT's per 40 minutes than Michael Finley and is 0.06 FT's/40 min behind Rafer Alston.

OPINION: Brent Barry doesn't/can't drive to the basket any longer.
FACT: Brent Barry shoots more FT's per 40 min than any Rocket starter excluding Yao and McGrady. He's shoots fewer FT's per 40 min than Juwan Howard and drivers w/o playing time...Wells and Snyder.

IOW, if Barry were a Rocket, he'd be ranked 6th in the category.

As I said prior, they drive more often than the one-dimensional Rockets.

Yeah, let's sign some more great "glue" guys who really don't put up any stats but are all class, play hard, and takes a few shots now and then.

I like battier, but he needs to start showing some more tangibles next year on the offensive end.

LOL - as a Memphis fan - I bet you do like that trade-surprised West did not get the Rockets to throw in another draft pick too

Good post- we will regret this trade by the end of Battier's contract in 2 to 3 years. With another mobile player it would havebeen interesting how the Rocket's dynamic would have changed. With McGrady, Gay, Swift & Synder- they could have played up-tempo at times to mix things up.....

the battier trade was when JVG was coach

I still like the guy and believe he is a positive for our team, but now a new coach would make me think about it

at the time of the trade, if we chose to keep it, we WOULD NOT have gotten Rudy Gay, we would have selected the PG the bulls got, cant remember his name..thabo something

if JVG wasnt coach, then i believe we would have gotten rudy

If JVG wasn't our coach, we would have lost that meaningless game the year before and we would have had Brandon Roy.

Yeah, you might have been stuck with an 6th or 7th pick if you had Battier instead of Rudy Gay.
