I saw a bit of this show.. pretty interesting.. I liked the first one (dancing man) Very witty.. some weren't as good: "urine in a coffee cup" WTF??? Anyway I'm not sure how successful this show will be. The judges are too nice, every one of them saying "you're are very talented" to every single "director".. The judges also seem to agree EVERY time as well.
If I hear the phrase "Beginning, middle and an end" again...I swear... Anyway, personally I liked it. Hopefully it'll play out though. I can't see them just canceling the show since the winner's chosen by America.
I liked that one, too. My only problem with this show is Carrie Fisher. Has she ever directed anything before? If she has, then my mistake - but if she hasn't, I don't get why she is a judge (and being Princess Leia isn't a good reason).
I don't know what the show is about and I don't know if she has ever directed anything. But I know she is a very highly sought after script writer. She is usually hired to come in after the main writer and then fixes up their stuff to make it more filmable.
me and the wife have been watching this. Don't know if any of you have been watching this since it began but did they change the format? First couple of episodes were like the apprentice and yesterday it seemed like it was American Idol
I really enjoy this show. Some of the directors' movies were very funny and each were done well. My friends and I are all aspiring to be in the movie business one day and it was nice to see a show like this come along.
Well the first ep was basically the phasing out. The second was also a phasing out process, but with teams and each person was judged individually. From now on it'll be like Idol.
It's the summer, nothing gets gets cancelled. It's just a time filler until the fall shows come back. I like the show. Some talented people. Also some that aren't so talented. I used to watch Project Greenlight, but I like this better. Don't forget the website to see the clips and other stuff: www.thelot.com
I tried to watch some of this tonight and it was BAD. This show had to set a record for how long you could stretch out the weening down process. I stopped watching half-way through the first row they did.
I agree...I like it much better when we get to see the actual process of the film getting made and the conflicts between the contestants.
i havent watched the whole thing, but it really sh*ts me the way they announce the results in the EXACT same diatribe they use on Idol.
I just started watching the first few episodes yesterday.. I like the idea of the show and the feel of it too.. I think a new judge needs to be added who is someone that can really stand out rather than each judge saying almost the same thing every time.. Also, I think that the judges tend to think WAY to commercial and are not at all looking for something edgy, but that seems to be the trend on all these "plug in" type reality shows (IE American Idol).. I just could not agree with them that the visual effects charged rube goldberg short was good at all, I think the general movie going audience is smarter than that and tired of the same overdone special effects that Zach did with DANGER ZONE yet the judges know they can plug that guy in after the contest right away, but IMO he will never stand out from anyone else in Hollywood.. So far I think the best short I've seen was from Jason Epperson called GETTA RHOOM , the main character felt like a mix of Milton from Office Space and Napoleon from Napoleon Dynamite.. I thought it was clearly the most creative and enjoyable and the least commercial of all the other vanilla crap that most of the contestants put out.. I think I'll keep watching the show, I just hope that things get a little more interesting because after all it is still a reality show..
I agree as well, I like the first couple of episodes where it was played out like that, were we could see more of the process as opposed to just the finished result. I hate the american idol mold they are using, that show last nite could have been a 30 min show easily. It's the summer so I'll keep watching
Yeah but the last episode before they switched formats, on last thursday, they had a challange of making a film in an hour and it just left off there. On Monday's show they just started with the current format and that last challenge wasn't even mentioned, it seemed liked they just changed mid stream
