Steve Young was NOT a run first guy.

John Elway was NOT a run first guy.

Vince Young is NOT a run first guy.

of course they would, but the way people talk about VY here, you'd think it didn't matter if his grandmother played left guard.

I disagree, Steve Young like VY looked at option #1 then took off, after sitting behind the greatest QB ever Young became a pocket passer with the ability to run. Elway was the same. If VY decides to become this guy than good for him but while he is a little better athlete than the other two he will never be the passer that Young and Elway were.

I am a VY fan and I really have nothing bad to say about the guy, I'm very pleased where the Texans are going and with the Rockets out of the playoffs and the Astros playing a poor and uninspired brand of baseball I think the city is looking forward to the Texans season.

suffice it to say i disagree. i can literally see VY go through his reads. i think he is labelled as run first because he is so athletic and so effective when he runs. but i don't see that as the reality of the situation.

i agree with you on being optimistic about the texans' future.

It's ironic, isn't it. With the Rockets proving to be SOFT in blowing a 2-0 and 3-2 series lead, along with the Astros boring and predictable losing, I can't WAIT until training camp.

Saw a little diddy on Matt Shaub on ESPN over the weekend. They were saying he is the FA signing that will have the biggest impact in the NFL this year.

Getting rid of the David Carr cloud that's been hanging over this franchise since it's inception has made a huge difference with how I'm feeling about this team.

Tell me about it. A little over two months until the first preseason game. Just think, it's about the same amount of time until then as has passed since the first weekend of the NCAA tournament. That seems like yesterday.

of course there are times when VY will stand there and go through his reads. IMO he is not 100% confident in either his ability to throw the ball in traffic or his recivers ability to catch the football or atleast make sure it is not picked off.

Vince will be a very good player because of how athletic he is but give me a Carson Palmer (strong armed pocket passer who will sit there and let his guys get a step and then make the throw) over a runner who will end up getting injured every year until he ends up changing what he does.

I understand what your saying but Carson Palmer got hurt standing in the pocket completing a pass. I know that was a one time thing but injuries can happen whether you run or stand and throw.

Joe Montana got hurt to on a blindside hit in the NFC title game so yes it can happen to anyone but I promise you McNabb will never be the same player after all his injuries and even if Mike Vick can stay out of prison we have yet to see him prove anything since that good run the Falcons had in the playoffs a while back.

people are sick. cant get awau from VY talk.

Im hopefull for mario still. He needs to improve a great deal but hopefully okoye will take a little pressure off and mario will mature as a player (he's still learning after all).

Im excited about the defense possibilities.

I love (not really) how this thread about Mario, with "NO VINCE TALK WANTED" in the title, devolved into a discussion about VY.

an article on mario "not being a mistake" inevitably is going to devolve because him not being a mistake, he has to a) be a great player regardless because he is the first pick and b) he has to be at least as impactful as people taken after him, unless its an olajuwon over jordan situation where olajuwon is so great you really can't fault the rockets.

so in essence the discussion on him being the right pick or mistake will always involve the other options.

Four pages from a bunch of speechless members. Why aren't all of you guys in D&D, where we can use that kind of output?

    Oh, wait... nevermind! ;)
