jeff i don't know man, i'm just frustrated in our current state. and i need morey to do something to get me excited again.
well i guess he could start by having a helluva draft. then he could have a great offseason by signing a PG and a tall PF/C. darko and mowill would do nicely.
Could a player talk to one of his buddies who could throw out hypothetical situations about their friend to someone high up in the franchise he might be interested in? I'm actually curious of the rules in situations simliar to this. With the amount of college coaches that keep gettting busted talking when they're not suppposed to, i really doubt it doesn't happen in the NBA where their are way fewer teams and are forced to be even more competitive.
I'm perhaps the only one who doesn't want RL. I don't see whats so great about him. He can score a little, so what? What makes you think he'll score 20+ ppg here in Houston. He could be a flop here for all we know and we would have a near max untradable contract on our hands.
is there anything else that you'd like morey to pull out of his magic murder bag? out of our price range on both counts...
You are not the only one. He is too soft IMHo- seems hurt all the time- and is going to command Max money. We cannot afford him and really do not need him if we keep T-Mac.....NO D and little rebounding....He should just stay in Seattle if they are willing to give him the max...or take that kind of money anyplace he can get it-
It will be so hard for Morey to get quality talent with so few resources-anything he can do should be appreciated
This isn't news, but interesting to listen to Ric Bucher mention Houston being the ideal spot for Rashard. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2883178 (video) "There are going to be a lot of people that are interested. Houston looks like an ideal place for him, if they can afford it because he's from Houston and has often talked about going back there. And if they're going to look for an upgrade at the power forward position Rashard Lewis would be the ideal player to play next to Yao Ming."
Since his second year, he's had seasons of 82, 78, 71, 77, 80, 71, 77, and 60 games. That's 74.5 games a season, over 8 seasons, including the 60 this past season. Career averages of .461 FG%, .386 3P%, .801 FT%, and 5.8 RPG. Not too shabby. Definitely not a max player, but someone we could really use. Doesn't turn the ball over. Gets some steals. Has an EFF of +21.33, which is not bad. I think he's going to cost too much for his production, at least for the Rocks. We can't afford him, and he can't afford us, when another team can pay him more. Would this guy be mentioned so much here if we hadn't passed on a chance to draft him and he was a hometown kid? I don't think so.
Well I stand corrected. He is a durable player with good numbers..... I just do not see him as a 4 for us here-God I wish Rudy had just drafted him
I have put a lot of thought over that draft over the years- Why did they not draft RAshard.....They drafted Bryce Drew, Mirsad Turckan....I wondered if Rudy or the owner had a change of heart about drafting a high school player-it's the only way it makes sense - because Rashard thought they would draft him-Rudy has integrity and is not stupid...... -verbal promise - commitment?I do not understand I do not know-but that and the Eddie Griffin draft -Rudy will never live down....I was so happy we drafted Griffin-we needed a big man in the worst way-do I feel stupid now?YES!- who would have thought Griffin would be such a loser?
It wasn't just you. I don't recall any papers or analysts calling us stupid or even criticizing us after the deal. You have to blame the Eddie, the scouts, trainers, or coaches for him never developing or having an inside game, only wanting to shoot the 3 pointers. Who knew he would arguably be the softest PF we ever had. On defense he wasn't half bad blocking shots but it was usually from the weak side. I don't know why he could never put on any muscle to help himself better in the paint. That might of changed things a bit. But in the end we got Yao since Eddie was a bust.
I don't know why everyone is itching to get R. Lewis. Folks he is a 3 and T-Mac wants the 3 back anyway. Shane is a 3 also so unless you are planning to trade either one or the other why talk about Lewis.
i disagree with bucher... lewis is the OPPOSITE type of PF the rockets need. rashard would be a perfect 3 though. then battier can come off the bench.
Hey, with all the egg on the faces of those who thought the Griffin deal was good at the time, myself included, we could make a hell of an omelet!
