I like neither. M. Williams had lots of trouble being consistent and productive at Arizona. He is not a great shooter. Though he has size & athleticism, he needs some time and playing time to develop. Bellini sounds good, but all I hear about is his shooting. His size is nice, but we need more slashers, and people who can create than the shooters.
Looking at RA's draft history the best he has gotten in the 26 area is 25 he picked Gerald Wallace and at 27 in the past MR. CHiLi Pete otherwise his picks were good mid high picks.
Rick Adelman doesn't draft anybody, he's not a GM and like JVG he doesn't follow college b-ball during the season. You guys honestly think JVG "drafted" Novak, Head, Spanoulis, Badiane? I don't think he did.
He did not look like Peja to me (sorry I already penciled in Novak for that ). But he remindered me of someone else -- someone who is still in the playoff hunt. Can you get that name?
No Byars is not. He is not as explosive or athletic. AT best he may be somewhat productive off the bench. He can catch and shoot. He was a goto man at Vandy. But he was the best players in the conference during a down year. He did most of his damage being a very smart player who good Bball IQ. Could he fit for us next year, yes. But I don't think the Rocekts to pick him in with 26 with other players who are more athletic, etc. We lack players who can drive and are athletic and have a lot of natural talent. So I would like us to take such a player who can do that and not have as much of a ceiling.
Regarding Sean Williams.....the Rockets took a chance on a Luther Head despite his being involved in a burglary while he was at Illinois. So, if Luther can turn his life around, maybe this kid can too. DD
Concur. The more I study the choices, the more I like taking a risk on Williams, although I'm beginning to think he won't be there at #26. Regarding the pot, a sizable percentage of NBA athletes do the same thing. Heck, from reading the D&D, half the board believes pot should be legalized.
Oh, I know......each pick is it's own risk......no doubt. One thing to consider is this guy is from Houston, and that may not be such a good thing if he got in with the wrong crowd in Houston. He may need to go to another town to get away from his pot buddies. DD
The player I would most like the Rockets to get is : Rudy Fernandez from Spain....a 6'6" attacking SG/SF I can see him taking over at the SG spot with Tmac moving permanently to the SF and then trading Battier for a PF..... He attacks the basket with gusto, and could be our team's answer to a Manu type of player.... Here is his draft profile <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dXAucLSrYv8"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dXAucLSrYv8" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> And his name is Rudy.....and that is Karma ! DD
More Rudy: <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zhLJBElPFlw"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zhLJBElPFlw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> And listen to the NBA-TV draft experts talk about him...moves without the ball plays with passion...attacks the basket...COME ON !! This is the guy.......he sounds perfect for an Adelman type of team. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kCP0XNAXhOw"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kCP0XNAXhOw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
I love Rudy. He is great size and skills set to be like a Manu Ginobili for the Rockets. I am not sure he will fall to us though.
We should draft my homeland hero Petteri Koponen to backup Rafer, that guy has a lot of potential. http://www.draftexpress.com/viewprofile.php?p=1273
