I think if Mario can get his toe-nail problem taken care of, he can become a really great player. From what I've read, he was in a lot of pain throughout the season. He's had his toe-nails removed a couple of times I think, so yeah that can't feel too good.

Heh heh. You are thinking of Yao Ming.

Well Mario did have his toenail removed a couple times but that wasn't the big injury. He had a foot condition called plantar fasciitis. The Mayo Clinic website describes it as "Sharp pain in the inside part of the bottom of your heel, which may feel like a knife sticking in the bottom of your foot"

The excuse given for his poor performance, plantar fasciitis, is hilarious. Wasn't that the phantom injury used by the NBA teams when they just didn't want someone on the active list?

Williams is a joke. As are the Texans and anyone that still calls themselves a Texans fan.

You are being a jerk and r****ded. The guy didn't practice at all because of it. The NBA injury was something generic...LIKE BACK SPASMS!!! I kid but it was something really general.

Mario looked like at a beast for periods of the season. If they can get his motor going on all the time I don see any reason why he can't join Ryans down in the pro bowl.

I hope Williams and the Texans defense have a great season. They have too much talent in Williams, Ryans, and Okoye to fail.

Yeah and for those who keep harping he is a bust I remember seeing him and double and triple teamed. I wonder why you need 3 people to block someone who isn't very good.

Playing football/basketball with plantar fasciitis is like running with a railroad spike in the arch of your foot.

You're right on everything you said. It definitely was all about Bush & thats the part I'm alluding to. The Texans began negotiations with Reggie Bush first. When the allegations came out against Bush and when the Bush camp wanted more than the Texans offered, thats when negotiations broke off and the Texans decided to go another direction. Insert draft climber and combine monster Mario Williams who would graciously accept the deal, and the rest is now still unfolding before us...

Texans were not going with a QB in the draft the minute they chose to resign David Carr. So it was Bush or Mario. But Mario was still option 1-B in the last moments and NOT option 1-A. Which they have every right to not give into hard-line demands but it still appears to most that Mario came out of nowhere.

Naw, that's a legit injury and pretty painful. If you want a perfect example watch Duncan in the playoffs last year compared to this year. He just has much more lift and is more active...quicker overall. I can see how that type of injury could hurt a DE.

It seems like Mario is trying to take the necessary steps off the field to raise his level of play and it seems like the Texans are making moves to improve his chances of making an impact (drafting a DT and sticking him on one side for good). I hope it works. Hell, it better work because he really has no excuses to not produce next season.............

Yea, it's a phantom injury. That's why Steve Francis missed the entire first month of his third NBA season suffering from it and we lost 15 straight games. They didn't want him on the active list.

well if he was really hurt with that then I can see how he would be hampered. I remember when I had it....good god it's like spikes ripping thru your feet and it takes forever to heal. if he played thru it without complaining then I commend him. I guess we will find out this year if it was injuries or lack of talent that made him suck.
