Has anyone tried the new Brazilian steakhouse in Austin? I have eaten at one in Chicago and it was amazing, they keep coming to your table with skewers of steak, and slice it for you at the table. I loved the experience and can't wait to try the Austin one out......anyone ever been to a Brazilian Steakhouse? What did you think? DD
Dont remember the name but they come around with different kinds of meats and you have a circle one side green one side red to tell them to serve you..cost about 50$ when I went about 4 years ago, was pretty good, got filled up quick. mightve been Fogo de Chao
Thanks for the heads up, DD. Will have to try it sometime. Fogo de Chao is great. Nelore (sp?) is a newer place that I think on Montrose that was pretty good at a slightly lesser price.
I haven't been there yet but Sampaio is very good. Its not all you can eat but I really can't eat 60 bucks worth of meat anyway.
All you Austinites.... Fogo de Chao is opening up a location later this year. http://www.fogodechao.com/locations.htm Austin 309 E. 3rd St. Austin, TX 78701
While in Brazil, I went to one every other day. It cost $8-$10 per person...with Caipirinhas. Here in Houston I go to this one. http://www.nelorechurrascaria.com/ it isnt as expensive as Fogo and more authentic......run by real Brazilians.
I think the one in Chicago is Argentinean, technically. There may be a Brazilian one, for all I know. Either way, my father ate at the Argentinean one, and liked it, but it was about 40 bucks a head.
I called them up once to ask if they do gift certificates. The hostess answered "we dont do none of that". Safe to say I went to Fogo like usual.
Did it take you this long to notice it? Anyways, better be good because that location kinda sucks. Have you tried the County Line's venture into Italian buffet?
Better be damn good, because it ain't cheap! I've driven past it a few dozen times, and finally went in to take a peek at the decor and a menu. Going to try it one evening with my sweetie, but leaving the kiddos at home. It's very nice inside, from what I could see. You're right about the location. One of those spots that you drive past all the time, and then wonder how hard it would be to get back to it, especially during rush hour. Sounds like you need to have an appetite to do it justice.
What was it, some kind of home-cooking restaurant before? Seems like it lasted a week. Really a dead spot. Would you tell us how you like it? I've been to some Brazilian and Argentinian steak houses and I really like them. Thx Deck.
The location is indeed horrid, and I only found out because of my poker group on Thursday. And yes, I have been to Canoli Joes across 290 and I liked it a lot. DD
