Let's not overreact. Rafer can be really successfull under RA as long as he stops shooting 3's and continues to do all the other things he was doing fine like throwing bricks whenever he tries to drive , play D with his eyes , pass the ball to T-MAC before reaching halfcourt so nobody steals it and never get benched or else ( one time VG dared to bench him and all hell broke loose).actually shooting 3's was his strong point ( by his standards) almost all his points came from 3point land ,too bad he had to shoot so many in order to actually make some
He will be successfull for sure (in the regular season)

Even if we give him away it will be an improvement.

Hopefully, we don't have to wait to see what he can do under Adelman because he get's traded.

How can Adelman improve Rafer's midrange game? That's what Rafer needs to improve on. That tear-drop needs to disappear. His mid-range jumper needs to be exploited, to see if he even has one. Can Rafer even penetrate the paint anymore? He can pass all he wants around the perimeter, but we need someone who can draw attention in the paint from driving the ball.....someone other than Tmac.

When we first aquired Tracy Mcgrady, we lost a lot of our previous team in the process. Point guard has been an issue ever since. Remember when we tried Tyron Lue, Charlie Ward, Marc Jackson, and Rod Strickland? There may be others, but that position has been a problem for a long time, outside of Bob Sura, and we only got one year from him.
I can't fault the Rockets for aquiring a fairly long term, competent, PG in Rafer Alston, but we can't just sit pat and not look to improve.
I remember when Rod Strickland couldn't even bring the ball up against Tony Parker without getting stripped, and Tmac once hinted that he'd like a guy like Damon Stoudamire to come to the team.

With the overhaul we had to undertake, we took in players we didn't necessarily need, and a lot more long term contracts as well. Remember we had to find a new home for Mo Taylor, and we've had a problem getting a competent PF as well.
Without money to spend, we've had to make so-so trades, many of which didn't work out.

Building this team is going to be hard with Tmac and Yao making big money, and Juwon being being practically untradeable until next season.

Rafer isn't optimal, but he's better than we had a few years ago. :(

In our team PG has a lot of open positions for 3 and the bad news is that Rafer can't make most of them. I mean we need a pretty good shooter ho could knock down most of the open positions
