WHO DAMMIT!? everyone keeps saying we need a strong athletic PF...NAME ONE IN THIS DRAFT THAT WILL BE THERE AT 26. the only one that i can name is Herbert Hill, but he will most likely be a 2nd rounder.

I think the Rox need a PG and a PF. Based on those needs they should take the best player available for those positions when their chance comes. If the PF that is available when their pick comes is better than the PG pick him, and if the PG is better then pick the PG. I will say that I think that there is a better chance of the Rox picking up a PF that will be able to contribute rookie year.

Chauncey was drafted 3rd overall, off the top of my head -- in fact, to the Celtics the year they missed Duncan. He was a vagabond till he got to Detroit. I see what you mean, just saying Chauncey's not an example of an under the radar type guy. I read up on Kennan's bio, seems like a good guy...I would imagine he goes undrafted, though - Draftexpress doesn't have him listed in the top 100 seniors.

The Rockets flat out need talent. I think we should draft any position except center.

Buy a high second rounder for cash and perhaps a future second and take Sean Williams. He's a risk, but second rounders are all about risk.

Agree 100%. Our problem is we cant's score for crap, even when we're left wide open. What good is a super PG if we can't hit shots anyways?

Our first priority should be to draft a scorer, second a PG.
If a Rudy Fernandez or Almond or Stuckey are still on the board we should draft them, if not draft the best PG. At 26 there won't be any good PF's.

However there will be some nice PF's on Free Agency, like Jamal Magloire or that Amir Johnson from Detroit someone mentioned on another thread.

Just please NO TO AFFLALO, TUCKER, or any other soft or can't shoot SG.

Plus, getting a high 2nd round should be high on our list of priorities. Hope those guys at the front office realize we need young, exciting talent. Our roster is full of non-tradeable assets (old crap).

Although he's probably going to get taken a few picks ahead of the Rockets, I'd love to get Tiago Splitter, PF from Brazil. He's 6-11 and a great rebounder. He also has the physical tools to become a decent shot-blocker. He's been playing overseas for several years now. An added benefit to getting Splitter is that the Rockets can stash him overseas for another year or two to develop further and then drop him right into their rotation once he's ready.

We need an athletic pf. That has to be our main priority. With JVG gone, our pg position is set with vspan as he will be a star in this league and would be a 1st round pick if he was in the draft this year.

once again...i must ask...WHO? who is this athletic power forward that will be there at 26? splitter will not get past 18. mcroberts MIGHT fall...but i doubt he will fall to the bottom of the 1st round. we need a scorer off the bench that can put up some points when battier or tmac is on the bench.

I seriously doubt that the draft will provide us a missing piece for this year ... maybe in 2 or 3 years. If there was a Cassel this year, maybe. We just need to get the best athlete possible, or bundle the pic like we did last year, and pick up a solid player.

My hope is that Francis fills that need at PG, but NY is probably not going to be that stupid just to hand him to us on a silver platter.

I think we need to go after PFs who have been in the league for 1-4 years, who have been tutored under great players but haven't blossomed yet, such as Amir Johnson in Detroit, Cedric Simmons and Hilton Armstrong in NO, or Ike Diogu in Indiana, and some depth behind C, such as Channing Frye in NY, or Patrick O'Bryant.

I seriously doubt Bonzi will be in the mix, since someone will offer him more money.

I'm assuming we'll probably get someone like Almond in the draft, who will be of value in upcoming years. Hopefully, our own youth will develop, such as Head, Snyder, Novak and VSpan.

The biggest difference this year has got to be Yao staying uninjured, but dominating.

If we traded Howard for James, Head for someone like Cedrick Simmons, signed Amir Johnson with our MLE, and snagged Francis for LLE, I'd actually go for picking up Artest for Snyder and Sura exception, as long as he didn't step into a void of leadership. I'd love it if we could trade Alston to one of the NYC teams, where he would provide marketing value, such as NY for Frye.

    Yao/Deke/Frye
    Johnson/Hayes/Simmons
    Artest/Battier/Novak
    TMac/James/Almond
    Francis/VSpan/Williams

i like the idea of trading Head for a Simmons, Amir, Diogu, etc type player. then drafting a SG/SF like Almond, Byars, or Rush...essentially replacing Luther Head.

i think the one move we should really make is trading novak for a 2nd rounder and targeting Demetrius Nichols from Syracuse.

Who could we actually get though? is anyone really trying to get Head?

sorry had to laugh at myself there. LoL.

I would rather buy a 2nd rounder than giving up a young body. Doesn't someone have 4 second round picks?

How about Big Baby Glen Davis as our PF pick? I know everyone is scared of his weight issues but he dropped weight this past season and had a great year. Properly motivated (and with a weight clause built into his contract) he could be a really good pick late in the first round.

I would love to see us grab a tough athletic power forward ~ I think we can grab a new PG on the market.

I don't know if Glen Davis fits that bill completely, but I might take a risk on him if he is around when we draft.
