Good to see dream working with Yao. Hopefully he can pick some things up that help him. That being said it is alot different doing things in a 1 v 1 practice setting in comparison to a game setting. Most of the time Yao is stripped or turns it over it is due to a 2nd defender causing the turn over, not his man. Still it would be a dream if we could get Dream as a full time assistant coach. Unlikely given his over sea businesses, but we can always dream :)

Totally agree with you there. Dream looks like he could go 20-25 mins a game. That was fun to watch.

If there is anything I never doubt about Yao is that he is a hard worker. If you teach him ANYTHING, he WILL GET IT DOWN.

Eaton was also two inches shorter.

The bottomline is this: if you wouldn't jump in front of runaway bullet to protect Hakeem, then I hate you.

Yao has a long neck and long face, I doubt their shoulders were two inches a part.

Even so - anybody who thinks Yao is going to turn into Mark Eaton at this point in his career needs to take off the happy glasses.

Eaton was among the best of all time at shotblocks, Yao can barely even crack the annual top 10 - it's not happening.

Yao's best defense is his offense... by putting all their big men into foul trouble.

No one said he was going to be as productive as Eaton but Eaton is the type of defender Yao needs to emulate because of his build and lack of foot speed.

well you did say "as effective as Eaton"....but anyway that's nit picking, I think their body builds are a bit different insofar as Eaton had more upper body strength, longer wingspan and had a smaller lower body which allowed him to be a shade quicker to react. Plus he concentrated exclusively on defense and didn't mind fouling a lot.

i just had another look at that workout video again :D when dream holds the ball up high it stays there but when yao does it it he pulls the ball back down to his chest cause it's part of his shot motion.

Watching the video and watching the post interview with Dream, you guys have to be kidding if you think Yao doesn't want to learn more from Dream. Unfortunately, it is Dream who is busy and may not have the time for Yao. Without a doubt, Yao would make time again for Dream, if Dream wanted to teach him further.

That is something that make all coaches cringe. When your big man brings the ball down to his chest. Big men coaches teach the virutues of keeping the ball high. Hakeem also was trying to teach Yao and slapping his elbows to keep the ball up. I'm sure it's not the first time Yao has heard this. He needs to correct this part of his game.
