Only one that would be considered is Minn., but there's still that trade kicker that Les wants no part of.

What about Luther Head and 2008's first for Atlanta's #11?

I'd do it, but I don't think Atlanta would.

I doubt it. Luther is not too different from Salim Stoudamire. Plus, Atlanta can get a good player at #11 (they're praying Mike Conley, Jr. will fall to #11 but will more likely have to trade down from #3 to get him), and they have to think the Rockets' pick next year will be in the 20s.

i'm not sure if anyone's brought it up yet, but one of the rumors on si.com has the blazers taking oden and trading randolph for less than market value to clear room in the front court for oden and aldridge to develop...i was thinking the rockets could swing a trade for randolph, maybe include juwan howard, luther head, rafer alston, and filler for randolph and maybe one of the later 2nd rounders the blazers have...

i know he's a headcase, but to a lesser extent than most...but he is supremely talented, would add a proven scorer in the post next to yao...im sure adelman can think of dozens of ways to utilize randolph, yao, tmac, and perhaps bonzi...i think the biggest drawback is that he'd be another player with a max-contract or near max-contract taking up too much space between 3 players...thoughts?

I'd try to swing a 3-way and send Juwan and Sura to the Blazers, Randolph to the Lakers and we'd get Odom

Rafer + Shane + Sura + Juwan + First. Rd Pick
    for
    Bibby and Artest
I think Sacramento would do this. It is now evident they want to be rid of Artest and Battier would be a great replacement with his positive sportsmanship. Good for the image of the team. They have also talked about trading Bibby, and atleast with this they get a fair contract with Rafer, cap-space with Sura and a draft pick to make up for getting Juwan's contract.

    Bibby / V-Span
    Mcgrady / Head
    Artest / Snyder / Wells
    Hayes / MLE
    Yao / Mutombo

    Or how about this:

    Shane + Rafer + Juwan + Head + Lucas
    for
    Bibby and Artest

Then trade Bob Sura + Steve Novak and First Rd. Pick
    for
    Mike James

Sign Mcdyess for full MLE. Sign Corliss Williamson or Cliff Robinson for LLE.

    Bibby / Mike James / V-Span
    Mcgrady / Snyder
    Artest / Wells
    Hayes / Mcdyess / Cliff
    Yao / Mutombo

Just wanna see what you guys think. I am aware that some teams wouldnt bite on my ideas but just trying to be as fair as possible. Also, I know giving up on Battier sucks but the time is now to make a move that would put us over the top. Plus, Artest is a much better player than Battier.

This is pretty involved...and I was tempted to put it in the Zach Randolph thread, because that is who it involves...but I figured it was best to keep that sucker at the bottom of the board where it belongs, so here I am...

I was inspired to formulate this trade based on this article by Adrian Wojnarowski, who basically speculates that Portland will now try and pull off a deal for Mike Conley to pair with Oden. A likely trade partner would be Atlanta at #3, who could still pick up a pg in Law at #11

    HOUSTON
    Trades:

    Juwan Howard
    Bob Sura
    John Lucas

    Receives:

    Shelden Williams
    Martell Webster
    Jarrett Jack
    Anthony Johnson
    #42 Pick from Portland

    PORTLAND
    Trades:

    Zach Randolph
    Martell Webster
    Jarrett Jack
    #37 Pick
    #42 Pick
    #52 Pick

    Recieves:

    Juwan Howard
    Bob Sura
    Tyronne Lue
    Josh Childress
    #3 Pick from Atl

    ATLANTA
    Trades:

    Shelden Williams
    Tyronne Lue
    Josh Childress
    Anthony Johnson
    #3 Pick

    Recieves:

    Zach Randolph
    John Lucas
    #37 Pick
    #52 Pick

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

This works under the cap and I think that everyone involved benefits from it.

Portland gets the #3 with a couple of low impact young players and a couple vets with short or expiring contracts.

Atlanta gets the most talent out of the trade in a legit 20/10 guy and a serviceable back-up. They also recieve a couple of 2nd rounders to have fun with.

Houston receives some young, cheap talent with relatively short deals (outside of williams), and an older vet at pg who can either come in and contribute or be cut for a minimal cap impact. They also receive a 2nd rounder to have fun with.

    Thoughts??

Atlanta is under the salary cap. I don't know why they would include us in the trade, since they can take in more salary than they give up. We really only have three tradeable commodities (t-mac, Yao, and Battier). No way we get anybody to take our scrubs for something better or draft picks.

The cap next year is 55 million, so adding Randolph (12m) would put Atlanta (48m) over the cap by about 5 million, meaning they can't just receive him for nothing.

What makes it difficult is that there are so many tiny salaries on the Hawks roster that you pretty much have to include a 3rd team. Outside of Johnson, only Speedy Claxton has a salary over 4 mil...and he has 4 years left on his contract, so that is hardly a beneficial deal for Portland.

Clutch: Thanks for hoarding all the trade threads into here. Now we've concentrated all the threads of:

Person1: "how about -insert ridiculous deal here- "
Person2: Yeah, that would def help our PG PF situation
RealisticPerson3: No way, -any NBA team- would never do that
    (and repeat)

all into one place of ~400 posts (and counting) that i'll never take the time to pour through

How about Howard, Sura, 1st round pick for Diaw and Banks.

We can swap out Sura's expiring contract with Vspan or Head if they want. This works on the ESPN trade machine; there is PPP trade restriction on Diaw. Considering how much he will get signed for, it might work.

Not sure if Phonix would do it, but this is what i'm thinking: With Amare back, Diaws role has diminished. The get Sura's expiring contract to help with the contract extensions of the other players. And they get another 1st round pick. The get rid of Banks, who hasn't really worked for them like they hoped. Then again they might not do it because its HOWARD.

    Yes...No...?

Banks would be the icing on the cake

I really don't think phoenix will hold onto Diaw, getting him would be sensational!

As much as all of us want to trade Howard, we know the other GMs are not stupid. He might become a good trade asset next year considering his expiring contract. Given that, would you do this:

Shane and Sura for Diaw and Banks.

Diaw is not needed in the paint with Amare coming back strong; they get Shane to shoot three's and play lock down defense which they need to improve on (well, not according to Bill Walton). Along with Sura's expiring contract.

This is better than the previous one!
