After the official news conference with Adelman, Alexander and Morey, Adelman stepped down and took many more questions from the media: http://www.click2houston.com/video/13377833/index.html Some good talk about assistant coaches and more on Bonzi.
Rafer has no problems with attacking the basket or penetrating. ...scoring? That's a different question.
I've always thought Rafer had no problem attacking and penetrating. It was putting the ball in the basket once he got there that was the problem.
interesting interview. - wants to bring in a former kings assistant who he tihnks very highly of as a defensive mind. - thinks we need to add to the talent level of the team (wants to keep bonzi). - thinks driving more will help (rafer, and billy will flourish under his coaching). wants to get more versitile and "sertain possitions". interesting... probably adding a f/c. right now we have 2 guys who can only play pf and 2 who can only play center.
Attacking the basket like the Suns and Spurs. What a novel concept. Too bad nobody thought of that before they traded away players that can attack the basket.
Elston Turner. Interviewed today for the Kings head coaching job. Here's an interesting bit on him. He apparently publicly blasted the Maloofs over the Adelman deal last year. http://www.sacbee.com/100/story/161558.html
It's too bad his voice had to crack just as he starts his media stuff with the Rockets. I wonder what it is going to sound like when he finishes puberty.
The more I listen to this guy, the more I'm growing to like him. Change certainly can be a positive. Van Gundy brought a defensive intensity and execution the Rocks had been lacking for a long time, but I think on the offensive side, he was too predictable and would have been well served to have had a keen offensive mind on his bench. Now he's gone and we'll be seeing quite a different look on offense from Adelman. Better? I think so, but we'll see how it plays out. The team is schooled on the defensive end. Time for emphasis at the other end. Like Adelman said, make things easier for Tracy and Yao on offense. I'm looking forward to it. I've been really depressed about how the season ended, but that off-season anticipation and excitement is starting to kick in. In some ways, this forum is better during this time of year. Less emotional and more intelligent discussion, not smothered with threads on who hates which player, and how one player is either God, or a savior, if only he got the minutes. No threads calling for a rediculous trade for a guy who just lit us up. I enjoy this time of year on the BBS.
I was about to same the same thing... I honestly really liked Van Gundy, and although I didn't think our team was going to get much better under him I didn't think we needed to take a huge leap... had we held our 5 pt lead at the end of game 7, I would have loved our chances at reaching the finals... I wasn't thrilled to see JVG leave, but Adelman's knowledge of the game is very apparent... he seems like a great basketball philosopher and I believe our team will flourish under his guidance offensively. The more he talks about it, the more I realize just how hard the Rockets were making it on themselves on the offensive end this past season -- so many plays of our plays, though effective, were very much forced... I am a bit concerned about how many changes in our roster we will see though. I really want the discipline and defensive intensity that JVG instilled in our group to remain next year, and with that all being team based, small changes in our roster can have a huge effect...
I don't think Adelman underemphasize defense, either.. he has had some very very good defensive teams when he had the defensive horses like a younger Doug Christie or Ron Artest in the half-season he spent with Adelman.
Hilltopper, thank god for bringing you to this bbs I always appreciate your excellent job for posting up such nice videos right on time. I know Im asking too much, but is there any possility that you put videos on other sites like youtube as well as click2houston? Because I always cant watch the video consecutively(it stops and buffers after plays for several seconds) due to the poor network(Im from China), and furthermore, it seems like I cant replay the video after I finish watching, which means I have to reflesh the webpage and wait to watch it again. Anyway, thanks again Hilltopper!
Yeah, the click2houston videos never work quite right for me - and I'm on a normal computer. Maybe it's Firefox.
