    No link or anything but....
Channel 2's Randy McIlvoy reported on the 6pm news that Mario Elie is the first in line for one of the Assistant Coach positions for the Rockets.

Its not just a novelty. We need Elie's grit on the sideline. Someone has to yell at T-Mac when he settles for jumpers all day. Elie will do it. Someone needs to get on Bonzi when he comes in out of shape. Elie will do it. Someone needs to lead by example, someone who has rings, someone who has worked his butt off to make it, Elie can provide that.

We need a player like that on the court, but yes, Ellie would definitely be a great addition.

This team needs someone with some team history to be around the players. Give them a sense of pride of what they are really playing for.
Not freaking Knick losers who nobody cares about or respects in the first place.

Only if the Rockets could snatch Dream like the lakers did with Kareem for Bynum.

ellie would bring some heart and mental toughness to this team.

other guys i'd like to see on the sidelines include:

dwane casey, brian hill, michael cooper, erick mussleman, tom thib, bill lambier, don cheaney.

i always thought hakeem wouldn't make much of a teacher but i think i may have been wrong. it will never, ever, ever happen but hakeem on the sidelines with yao would be amazing. he would give a spark to yao every game.

adelman on charlie's show said he hadn't talked to elie, though he sounded like he would. if mario doesn't get a head coaching job i'd imagine both parties would be very interested in him working here.

Boy talk about undermining your head coach from the get go. Noting like pairing your new head coach with a guy who desperately wants his job.

    This can't miss. :)

    not exactly.
This could only help him get a head coaching job for sure somewhere else.

Or Elie can be an assistant here and be groomed to eventually take over as head coach, kinda like Avery in Dallas.

Yes I think Elie could be a great addition, but it could back fire. Adelman has his group already in mind.

Mario would be great ! He can train under Adelman. When it is time for Adelman to depart Mario will be ready to take over. :p

Bill Lambier teaching Yao about a perfectly placed elbow would help counter Jazzholes and Dixie Spurs flopping.

Great idea it is. Can we start a petition to get the likes of Bill Laimbeer and Rick Mahorn on the squad? The way Yao plays sure needs a dose of the Bad Boys to keep the defense honest.

lol how'd you know why i had him on the list?

i think with adleman's offense the 3 assistants should be specialists in:

    1. strategy and game prep
    2. defense
    3. heart/toughness/motivation

ellie, lambier, and cooper all fit that role.
