Hello Okay, it seems like this is a statistical league. Therefore, since each team drafts 15 players...we don't have to persay have 3 players per position right... (ie...if you were really strange you could just draft 15 poing guards, correct?
10 mins seems like a long time.I would suggest 5.We did a yahoo football draft with 90 seconds and it went really smooth.
Ted brings up a good point. When we draft, are we drafting like 3 PGs, 3 PFs, 3SGs, etc. Or are we just drafting 15 overall players regardless of position?
You can draft your players regardless of position. The maximum # of players on your team is 15 and the minumum # is 12 players. As far as how active positions will be set up, I am not sure. I have emailed Sportsline to find out how the draft order will be worked from Round 1 to Round 2. I am still waiting for a reply. I have looked for the active position setup on the website and I can't find it anywhere. I will let you all know as soon as I find out. shanna, I will try to find out how to set the draft on auto. I am sure I can do it for you when the draft begins, but I will make sure and let you know. Ted Ruxpin, I can't change the allowable draft time in the middle of the draft. It has to be one set time throughout. So, should it be 5 or 10 minutes???
There has to be set positions ? I've never been in a f-league that didn't. As far as time,I think the shorter the better....even with 5 min. a person one round could drag out over an hour It shouldn't take more then a few min. to scan the list of available players and pick one you like.Lets not make this an all day deal, please.
I can argue the point both ways as for 5 mins or 10 mins. If you make the time 10 mins, I am sure there will only be a handful of instances that require the 10 mins span. I am sure most owners will have done his/her homework on players, and the avg draft picking time will be somewhere in the 5 mins range. Therefore, if you set it at 5 mins, time may be just 5 mins or an avg of 2-3 mins. ****I am leaning toward 5 mins as the time***** The only thing I worry about at 10 mins is that the rare case which everyone takes 10 mins for most of the picks and therefore the draft could take over 6 hours. Something interesting though is that you can queue your picks so your pick is automatically placed after the person in front of you has placed his/her pick. Suggestion: If it gets to be a hassle with the team owners and we are see-sawing back and forth on this ---Why don't we just take a vote? If there is a tie, the commissioner (crow) can decide?
IMPORTANT INFO: The draft is going to "snake" from round to round. Example: The person with the last pick in round 1 will have the first pick in round 2. Just like the Sandbox drafts used to work. If you do not show up for the draft, then your team will be automatically selected from your queue. There is no need to set yourself on "auto" because I have already set that feature up. If you do not fill up your queue, then your team will be drafted from your rankings list. If you fail to rank your players or fill up your queue and do not show up for the draft, then your team will be assembled from the default rankings provided by CBS.Sportsline.com ..... In order to set your rankings, from the left toolbar click on "Draft", then click on "Rank Players". Pretty self-explanatory. I have reduced the amount of time between picks to 5 minutes! I am still trying to get info on how the lineup format is going to be set. If I read correctly, I have the option of setting up the lineup format divided into three different groups (Centers/Forwards/Guards). It is not going to be separated into point/shooting guards, or power/small forwards. How should the lineups be set? Here is an idea: Start 4 Guards, 4 Forwards, and 1 Center. That leaves 6 players on the bench. This is very important because you need to draft according to how the lineup format is going to be set! Another important note: If you have an illegal lineup set for any given day, then your team will not receive any points for that day's games! For instance, if the above lineup format is used and you use 3 Guards, 5 Forwards, and 1 Center...you will not receive any points for that day's games! If you have any more questions, post them here or e-mail me.
What if a player plays multiple positions and is listed as a SF/SG (ie. Shandon Anderson or someone else?!?) What is his exact designation?
We are going to go by the position designations put forth by Sportsline. While I have the power to change positions for players, this use is going to be restricted unless a player is listed at an obvious wrong position. Players will be changed at my discretion.
Hey guys, if you skipped to this page please make sure you read the last post on page 1. I have posted some important info for the league.
I just wanted to let everyone know that the #2 pick in Round 1 is available for trade if you are interested. Email me with your offer if you choose to make one.
Question - # of rounds Crow, you said an owner can have b/t 12 and 15 players on the team. Let's say you only want 12, then how do you not pick anyone in the later rounds (13-15)?
Just pick the players and then you can waive them if you want to. I know most of us are going to want to have the maximum # of players on our roster and that is why I decided to make the draft 15 rounds.
