Ok, which one of you guys is going to ask Adleman to pony up the money for the Red Rowdie seats? I say the honeymoon ends when he answers "Pay for wha?!!"
DD, I never minded your opinions. That's what makes this place so great. My eyes get opened all the time by examining various sides of issues, since things are seldom black and white, and if someone gives their opposing opinion or provides greater expertise, I'm forced to question my own understanding. Iron sharpens iron. I grow wiser by variant opinion, not threatened. So, please, understand I never was offended by your opinions, irregardless of how popular they are, intelligent or not. I admired you speaking up, and questioning things, and making people think. So, please never quit doing that. I didn't mind you getting excited or even venting at spots, especially after games, although reactive posts do get old. But, we all get riled up. We're fans. The very passion that makes us fans causes us to express ourselves with intensity, sometimes innapropriately. But, we always want to protect our freedom of speech and right to think and express what we think. What was offensive, was the constant repeating of your same points hundreds of times, and your judgementalness of JVG's motives, even though people explained or countered what you accused him of, with no facts, or your ability to know such things. Others, who were typically ignored if they made such biased claims, grew bolder to post in the same manner, turning this into a very contentious place, without the respect this BBS usually has for variant opinion. After repeating it enough times, people started taking offense, taking up for players he supposedly abused. Then when you didn't reason in the middle, people would make stronger and stronger counter posts, reacting to an extreme of their own. That's the basic definition of dychotomous, when people debate on the extremes, and not interact with the reality of the middle. You also attacked at the most innapropriate of times, when we were all pretty excited about JVG's success. Just bad taste. Your posts were shocking in their insensitivity. You didn't do that in past years, as I recall. Usually, in the past, when someone did that, we all ignored thier post, and then things got back on an even keel. But, you kept coming. it killed interactivity and friendly debate, and turned things into opposite intolerant camps. Intolerance breeds intolerance. Remember, as the old saying goes, "what goes around, comes around." Probably, after suffering consequences from someone doing it to you, only then will you realize what you've done, and how offensive it can be. In my youth, I did some of this with religion and politics, and now I'm quite embarrased for having treated people with such disrespect. I've actually looked people up to apologize to them. At the time, I thought I was being persecuted for my beliefs, and I was the saint when they got angry, not taking responsibility for the fact I pissed them off with my approach, not so much the message. What an idiot I was. I was the only one who didn't know it. So, I've done the same thing. Everyone has to learn their own way. I just hope this doesn't continue to be a war, with people dealing out retribution. It would not surprise me if a lot of people attack you this next year anytime something doesn't go well. There's a lot of pent up frustration, not just with you, but with the whole situation, and it can all get mixed up. Here's hoping Morey does what's needed, and we win it all. Winning can do a lot of healing.
You know, its all good to say this right now...but what happens when the Rockets start losing some games next year and you have no JVG to blame it on? Will Adelman become the new target for fairweather fans? Those of you who clamoured "Fire JVG" all year long got your wish. What are you gonna gripe about now? My bet is Adelman...
I don't think Red Auerbach in his prime can take this bunch to the Western conference finals next year without a major upgrade of the roster. Again, the problems with the Rockets are at the top. Talent, talent, talent. Tweeking is good, but talent is better. Recognizing talent, drafting talent, trading for talent, signing talent all apart of MANAGEMENT. And I am real curious as how the slowest, least athletic team in the league is going to play uptempo. That should be fun to watch.
i'm actually relieved to see so many of us (oddly enough many "old time" bbs'ers) not drinking from the proverbial rocket-red koolaid.
this thread didn't turn out to be the way the thread starter wanted it to be. remind me to not get into an argument with those old fellas .
Good thread, DaDa. Don't let the haters ruin it. Yes, you flip-flopped, but so what. Most of us do, once in a while. GO ADELMAN! GO ROCKETS!
forgive me for asking what is probably a dumb question but how do I tell if I have been drinking the rocket red koolaid?
black and white with intermittent shades of grey Dak, notice Im not piling on tho I agree generally with CBFC and Sherlock? Its called restraint... Im just sayin...
Would you accept the branch yourself if JVG was announced to have kept his job for 1 more year? You are one of the boards biggest pot stirrers, ranging from coaching rants, player rants, ex-player rants, etc. Now that you got your cookie (Adelman hired, JVG gone), you want the crying to stop all-together? The bickering will never stop, but the subjects will CHANGE for a while.
Sigh... I do not have anything of value to add to the discussion that has been raging within this thread. This is the only thing (albeit valueless and uncontributory) that I can say: Someone please pass me the popcorn and the beer, thanks.
