Artest + K9 for Battier + Howard Mike James for Rafer Alston + Sura SF3 free agent keep Bonzi Wells draft big baby Yao/Jake K9/Hayes/Davis Tmac/Artest/Novak Artest/Wells/Head SF3/James/Vspan
Well, Bibby can opt out of his deal this summer. I actually think Corliss would be a good fit on the Rockets under Adelman, especially if the Rockets trade Juwan. Corliss can play SF/PF, something the Rockets didn't have last year. He's a legit post-up presence off the bench and gives the Rockets an offensive option during the limited minutes when Yao's sitting on the bench. Again, he'd be a cheap, realistic option who could provide quality depth as an 8th-9th man.
if Rockets got Ron Ron, with B.S. Tmac and Yao together, then all PF/PG problem gone. hayes/Alston + any MLE player will be good enough to win all.
Instead of dropping $14mil on Bibby, we could consider Gerald Wallace. He'll probably opt out of his current deal and would be available for less than Bibby. He seems like the athletic scorer that would thrive in an uptempo offense.
How about Walter Herrmann. He is a big man with accurate long range shooting skills. He played really well towards the end of the season. I dont know if he is an Adelman type player but a he is a big man who can shoot the three well.
Just wait until the draft is over and invite him to camp with a few other undrafteds. If, by chance, someone does take him in the second, the Rockets could buy his rights for half a mil or thereabouts. We would have another draft day riot if the Rocks took him in the first round -- the only pick we have this year.
Yeah, he's a limited player and wouldn't work on every team. Portland has 4 second round picks. I'd bet anything that they'd be willing to give up two or three of them for the Rockets first.
Maybe if the rockets do this: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=2946773&postcount=338 Reddick mightn't even turn out to be a better 3P shooter than Head in the NBA. IMO better passing would be more beneficial than 3P shooting anyway. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-lottery22may22,1,361010.story? The Clips are deep at SF with Maggette, Livingstone, and Ross taking all available minutes there. With Maggette complaining about playing time this season I'm not surprised he only got see the floor only 10 times. Still he's only 20yo and now with two NBA campaigns under his belt. He's still pretty interesting since he never got the opportunity to play there. http://www.draftexpress.com/viewprofile.php?p=256
Magette is interesting, but I think the Clippers realized at the end of the season he's the second best player on their team. The more targetable (and maybe just as interesting) player is Ross. He's never gotten much playing time, but he can shoot a bit, athletic, and plays great defense. What's not to like? and he could come cheap cause he's been stuck in LA doing nothing for something like 3 years now. If we don't get a starting PF that can dunk i'm going to throw myself under a bus
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=115495&highlight=howard+lakers But no for real, remember the the snowboarding incident this year? Here's an quote from an ESPN article I read regarding it: "Radmanoivic, who had never previously tried snowboarding, told the Times he felt fortunate the team did not try to void his five-year, $30.2 million contract for the escpade and subsequent cover-up. " We're talking about a disappointing and underachieving player that lied about an injury and got himself so deep that the team actually had the option to void out his contract because of it. Howard could be a decent triange PF and has a shorter contract than Radman's. Add to that Howard's solid play this season and I don't think it's as out of the question as you make it sound.
Had Davis opted for the draft a year ago, he probably would have secured a first round spot. However, he had a disappointing year this time around (no Tyrus Thomas to play off). That and body fat issues will weigh him down -- tip the scales against him, so to speak.
