you mean a 6-year contract worth about $40 million starting at age 31? he all but quit on the team and hasn't even come anywhere close to showing he has earned that in Houston. the Rockets don't need to show him the money. he needs to shape up and play to his potential first, and then they can talk about money.

He didn't quit on the team. He was forced out by JVG. Kind of how JVG was forced out by the rockets. Only bonzi didn't mind saying he quit because he was tired of jvg's personal grudge against him, whereas JVG had a problem with morey telling him he should tell the public he quit.

    Adelman could resurrect Wells' career

One unmentioned aspect of the likelihood of Rick Adelman going to the Houston Rockets: the possible resurrection of Bonzi Wells' career.

Wells' departure was all but assured with Jeff Van Gundy coaching. JVG quickly tired of Wells' act and deactivated him for the playoffs.

But Wells had a superlative postseason last year in with the Sacramento Kings under Adelman, a performance that earned Wells that $38 million offer from the Kings that he – and his now-former agent – inexplicably turned down.

I do think Adelman will bring an new bonzi to us, and he may persuade Bibby to come with little cost.

Then the line up will be follows:-

    BIBBY
    T-MAC
    S-BATTIER
    Bonzi
    YAO

This is great news. I've always thought Bonzi is a great player, and will fit in well with the team now that Van Grumpy is gone.

He can post upl, go to the basket, and pass well too.

I personally disagree with Bonzi staying. The guy has a serious professional and attitude problem. You do not want people like this in your team... unless he is someone like Carmelo 'sucker punch' Anthony.

I am not 100% sure Bonzi will get a better offer than $2.5mil.

If I were the Rockets I'd be willing to offer a non-Bird offer (up to $2.5 mil) for 1 year. Nothing more. There are much bigger rish to fry via the MLE.

I would be surprised to see many other teams offer anything more either after Wells last year. Maybe a vet team who thinks he is just the right 6th man, but there are a lot more desirable targets for the MLE.

He also makes more on the Rockets contract (2.3 mil if no opt out, up to 2.5 if we resign him post opt out with non-Bird) than he would with an LLE (1.8 mil, max of 2 years). I am sure lot of teams would take a chance on him with an LLE, but breaking into their MLE given his age, chemistry issues, and AWAL last year--I'd say it is a 50/50 proposition.

Finally, I am not sure I want him back. But on a 1 year contract at around 2.3/2.5 mil he at least would be tradeable if it doesn't work out.

    50. What are option clauses? What kind of option clauses are there?

An option clause allows a contract to be extended for one additional season after the date it is scheduled to end. For example, a five-year contract with an option for the sixth year means that if the option is exercised, then the contract extends through the sixth season, but if the option is not exercised, then the contract ends after the fifth season. Options must be exercised by the July 1 that precedes the option year.....

I hope Bonzi exercises that option. If nothing else he is a moderate trade asset. He both has a low salary relative to talent/skill and it would be an expiring contract. My guess is he declines his option year and becomes a free agent, but then again he may not want the uncertainty of last year.

I don't think there is any team that will give Bonzi the big money that he wants. He was out of shape last year and didn't play in enough games. He may be forced to spend another year with us. Hopefully, he can get into shape and regain his 05-06 playoff form by playing under Adelman. That may be wishful thinking though.

Yes Bonzi won't get much money. He schould training hard this summer cause he had a lot of problems last season. Hopefully Adelman will keep him

Buck Fonzi! That lard ass ripped us off with his lame ass excuses the entire year. He is exactly what we do not need on our team. A lazy ass quitter.

He can go back to the clubs trolling for hogs for all i care.
