A sunny day on a beach with two crazy kids and a nagging wife didn't deter my heart from two weeks of sadness. :)

You want to know whats REALLY SAD? Well, I thought about the Rockets EVERY SINGLE DAY. EVERY SINGLE DAY! Is that sad? Or obsession?

I read so much last night. Catching up on all the comments and articles from the Rocket last day through last night. I read all about the firing. I have to say that I haven't been this sad since...I think it might of been when the Rockets got eliminated by the Jazz in 1997. This loss hurt like hell.

One of the best things about being obsessed about a sports team is that when they win, your mind takes you right into the celebration. The champagne is on you also. But when you lose...and you lose like we lost, its like pain that can't be explained. It can't be explained no matter how much you want to tell yourself that its just a game, it was a good effort...blah, blah, blah. You go to sleep thinking about every play. And for ME, it was the freaking worst because I had to watch the game until 4am with two idiots pretending to be sportscasters. Just horrible television. It still hurt afterwards.

I know that every theory and every comment has probably been made. I just want to give my take now that I am all nice and tanned. :)

Van Gundy Did It To Himself

Well, he WAS my boyfriend. But I made it clear that this was year 4. And if in year 4 you don't get the job done, you had to go. If I had to REALLY make a choice, I think I would keep him. Initially, I was so devastated by the loss that I wanted his ass outta here. But after a while, I wanted to give him one last chance. Maybe that is my love talking. But I don't know. I wanted to forgive because I came home to see Utah in the Finals and absolutely annihilated the Warriors. How good does that look now? Still, 4 years is 4 years. Injuries or not. This is a bidness. The bidness is about the rings. I want my team to win 50 of them before I die. So, Gundy had his shot. Unfortunately, he didn't deliver. Whether its all his fault or not. Them's the breaks.

    Rick Adelman? Freakin Rick Adelman?!

Hmm...if he is our coach, where's the improvement? This is like a lateral move IF that.
The one thing that I don't want is that the Rockets totally abandon the defensive principles of JVG. Lets be fair. Did you see the defense played by this team against the Jazz? Compare that to what the Jazz did to the Warriors? They couldn't breathe let alone shoot playing the Rockets. They must have felt like Nelson Mandela when they were playing the Warriors. We lost to the Jazz because we should of made shots. Make WIDE OPEN shots we win. Anyways...Rick Adelman is a little bit of a downer for me. I just keep remembering how he had the Lakers by the freakin balls in 2002 and lost that series. I like the way the Kings played then but do we have the personnel for that now? And if you Gundy haters think that he is going to be a good interview, did you see this guy after losses against the Lakers? Did you see him after wins? No FREAKIN DIFFERENCE.
Still, I am hopeful that this is going to be like a Detroit Piston moment where an offensive coach kinda doesn't hurt the defense too much. I think we can safely say that we won't be suffocating any teams going forward. But maybe we can score a tad more. Maybe that will be a difference that will take us to the promise land. I am still on the fence. I don't think its an upgrade. But a safe choice. Take my team home, Addy. Smile. Be cheery! And hopefully you claim you are from NYC. You will then be in trouble around here!

    We Should All Be EMBARASSED!

I think that the worse thing an organization can do is talk to other players/coaches while the incumbent is still around. I think that is classless. I think that displays a horrible image about the organization. And this one prides on having class. What Les and Maury Povich did was inexcusable. If you wanted the man fired, fire him and talk to someone else after. Gundy gave his blessing? What is that? No coach would do that if he told you he wanted to come back. I don't believe that one minute. Gundy gave you 20hrs per day minimum and this is how you treat him? Thats not right in my book. Les wanted him fired for over a year. Can you at least show some damn class while kicking out the best coach you had since you did the same damn thing to the best coach you ever had? Its like once this focker has it in for someone, he treats them like crap. Rudy had to go. But treated him like a dog on the way out. Gundy had to go. Same treatment. He treated Olajuwon like crap at the end also. I mean what does that say about your organization when you treat management like crap when you get tired of them? Just horrible, horrible treatment from a supposed first class organization. And when I read that this happened, I couldn't believe it! Unbelievable.

This has been a really tough couple of weeks from the sports aspect of it. I love this freakin team so much that the pain I feel with losses like that one really bother me to no end. Will Rick Adelman be the answer? Hopefully. As long as the stupid owner doesn't go really berserk and goes after Larry Brown.

I don't want this team to lose its defensive edge...though I think its inevitable. I actually want Bonzi on the team to provide more punch off the bench. Hopefully, this is all for the best and whomever is our next coach will do a great job. Adelman? Um...well, not really an upgrade. But whatever. I want my team to win. And if he does that, I will be very happy.

Almu, I'm sure Les has thought about this for months, knowing if we put up yet another stinker in the playoffs, this time when we were favored to win by almost all the analysts, JVG would be gone, and Adleman would be the replacement. Les gave JVG a way out. Actually, he gave him plenty of chances to step down, so we dont have to fire him. JVG dared Les to fire him, to kinda make him look like an scapegoat (and it worked, cause thats all radio talks about now). In the end, Les did whats best for the team. He fired Gundy.

And I dont see whats so wrong w/ interviewing a replacement. There a half dozen coachign vacancies in the league. Les knew he wanted Adleman and didnt want him gone. Y not pursue him be4 he goes elsewhere?

We needed a change. Gundy's offense is stale, and his defense always has failed us in the playoffs. Time to move on.

Why do people think Adelman is a leteral move? JVG has proven absolutely nothing in his career. Especially with the rockets. Obviosly his philosophy will not work with this team. Adelman has made multiple finals and has gone deep into the playoffs on multiple ocassions while JVG has little coaching success in the playoffs by proof of his below .500 record.

To be fair, the two historical game 7 exits are more heartbroken and embarassing for Houston, Rockets,Les, players and a lot of fans.

It would be unfair if you honor JVG another year.

The JVG firing is something you have to do, no choice here, beyond right or wrong, IMO.

Jeff will end up coaching the Pacers or Hawks. I don't think he'd ever want to go to Memphis. lol

Adelman has 2 finals. JVG has one.

Adelman is 60yrs old. I am sure 15 years from now, Gundy will have another final under his belt.

Adelman and Gundy have accomplished the SAME DAMN THING.

    Nothing.

Would it be crazy to say I cried when they lost? Like a couple of tears. I think it was cuz I was so pissed off!

Thats how much I believed this year. Kinda sissy like. But whatever. The Rockets are my only obsession in sports. I love the Braves. But when they lose, I sleep nicely. They are like that girl on the side.

The Rockets? Thats my life when it comes to sports.

Weren't you the person who wanted to not go on a family trip, but wanted to watch the rockets instead? You have your priorities messed up. I just can't imagine someone caring about basketball more than their own family. That is seriously messed up.

He openly called JVG his boyfriend. Sometimes, people need intervention.

adelman has gone to the wcf 3 more times on top of the finals appearance, twice with the blazers and once with the kings.

jvg has gone once to finals and once to ecf.

adelman has had superstars on his team that he coached well.
jvg didn't have a superstar in ny. (ewing was injured)

    adelman can coach superstars
    jvg can coach scrubs

to say they have accomplished the same damn thing is incorrect.
