I think management were as peeved at Bonzi as JVG was.

Not saying I disagree...but is there anything we've seen or read to substantiate this?

    1. Bonzi wants his money... unless he doesn't think he could get more than $2.5 million next season elsewhere, he's not picking up the player option to come back.

    2. The Rockets have FA needs that are more urgent than signing Bonzi. Adelman or Van Gundy coaching, the PG spot is still more of a need. I think if Francis got bought out, they give him the MLE rather than anyone else.

I hate Bonzi for how he shafted the Rox this season and though its only hearsay that he said he only played up to 25% of his ability because he was being paid 25% of what he should be making, it sure looked like thats what he did. He might not get an MLE deal but he'll get a deal better than a 1yr/2.5M deal he has now, good riddance to Bonzi, I can't wait until he is on the next plane out of town.

I don't want Bonzi back. He was a crybaby and a malcontent, he didn't put in the effort to get in shape, and ultimately he quit on the team. Then again, I never wanted him in the first place.

I would welcome bonzi back with open arms cause he never got a fair shake here due to JVG's personal grudge against him. We beat Utah if we had bonzi in the lineup.

Maybe..but it's a long long long shot. If you were the President of the Rockets knowing what happened would you give the guy a shot? It's like you hired a star performer and then the dude purposley tanked on ya and cost ya money. He doesn't like the manager. Manager doesn't like him. He quits before the end of the year. You fire the Manager in part cause he doesn't know how to manage your star that you hired. Do you go back and hire the star with a record like that? HELL NO

I don't know. Bonzi would of course help us but you could see that we weren't playing ofense at all. That was just JVG tactic, defense. So I don't think we had beat Jazz if we would have had bonzi. MAYBE

Bonzi is still under contract if i understand correctly. so if he doesn't opt out after testing the market, the Rockets have no choice but to deal with him. in that case, he should be given another chance at least if not a fresh start. if he opts out however, than good riddance.

We need big girls stat. Bonzi loves um, and unlike Ben Afflec he doesn't leave them dead in his trailer.

It's not like he's not better than the majority of our team even if he is overweight. He could of scored 1 point off the bench guaranteed. I don't care if he's 300 lb's. If the guy can play, then we should have let him if he was willing to be a team player. Maybe he was, i have no idea.
I'm curious to his side of things. Since i never really heard any sides.

Certain coaches like JVG like to make examples out of people like Bonzi and Stevie just to prove their authority. For all we know this guy was late to one practice a got thrown in the dog house from day one. I've never heard of him disrupting teams in the past or having trouble with the law. Maybe i just don't know. Actually i know i don't have any idea. Only the Rockets and Bonzi know.

No, bonzi is not under contract, but has a player option that he can use to opt in.

You don't "opt in" in player contracts...you just have the option of opting out. But in the end it doesn't matter the result is the same. We can't afford to keep Bonzi and the money needed to keep him here would put us over the cap and frankly Bonzi isn't worth it.

My bad. Bonzi should opt out and the rockets should give him the full MLE. He is certainly worth it and with JVG no longer here, Bonzi will thrive.

If we could honestly get him for the full MLE then perhaps it would be worth it. But I think that's a gamble because it essentially eliminates any money we have to sign a backup PG or a more athletic PF. So it's a gamble at that point - but I think its a moot point. I think Bonzi will demand more than the MLE which we can't meet...and I think he's through with the Rockets.

I don't even welcome a healthy bonzi. Being healthy one day doesn't mean he'll be healthy the next. After what i've seen from him last season, I pass.
