They would know there is two reasons they won. A great big man and great perimeter play. Yao has to play at Duncans level for us to be competitive both on offense and defense. And Tracy has to play a combination of parker and Ginobli for us to go over the hump. Both are capable but they have to do it. The rest of the players just have to play good defense and hit open shots. Also Bowens defense on Nash was incredible. And I belive Shane can play that kind of defense for us.

Their stars step up to the plate. Ours haven't. At least not when it counts, and not simultaneously.

Duncan blocked nine shots in game six I don't think Yao blocked nine the hold series. Not ready to do a Duncan impression controlling the paint.

They have great organisation. GM and coach found Gino and Parker.
People want to play under Spurs. Kerr, Horry, Bowen and Finely are all greate veterans

    TD >>>>>>>Yao/Mac

First, Battier can't play that kind of man to man defense on any quality NBA PG. You didn't see it from VG as Deron was torching Alston. And there's a reason Bowen was 1st team All Defense and Battier was 3rd. And that reason is Battier is an excellent team defender but very so-so as 1on1.

The 2nd biggest difference between the Spurs and Rockets is that while both shot the 3 at a similar clip to open up the lane, the Spurs have players that can actually FINISH a drive. No one on the Rockets other than McGrady can put the ball on the floor and score.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Man for man, the Spurs are more athletic than Houston. The shame of it is...they are also way older.

TD has been all nba 1st team and all defensive first team nearly every year he has been in the league. He will go down as one of the greatest PF ever. I think only one two other hall of famers had as many all defensive and all nba first team selections to start their careers as TD. Yao is never going to be that good especially on the defensive side.

You're definitely right on about TD. But imagine 1 game...against anybody...if the Rockets had either Parker or Ginobili. (And I dislike them both...Ginobili flops too much and I perceive Parker as arrogant).

I thought the Spurs strategy in game 6 was very similar with that of the Rockets: relying heavily on their big fella in the post in the first half, and then punishing the Suns with outside shooting when Duncan got constantly doubled in the second.
Same basic strategy, but what a difference.

The Spurs have better role and bench players around their stars. Also, what separates Duncan from Yao is that Duncan is quicker and more gifted athletically. He is able to play better defense that way, and on offense he's harder to stop because he can change up his moves to score.

    it's so simple, right.

if the Rocks can get Yao and T-Mac to hit a big shot in Game ___ (which one was it where they both had shots in critical stretches in the same possessions...i think it was in Utah)...or if Yao finds a way to grab a freaking rebound at the end of Game 7...or if Tracy just gets hot in any one of those games we lost....or if Rafer found a way to knock down open jumpers....or some combination of these...

then JVG is a "good" coach...a coach of the year candidate who advanced his team past the Jazz into the 2nd round to play the Warriors...and this board wouldn't be spinning about Rick Adelman right now.

isn't that amazing? doesn't that highlight how silly this all is?

It all comes down to the fact that the Spurs have THREE scorers and the Rockets have TWO.

It's plain as day, the Rockets need a THIRD SCORER.

Actually the Spurs have many scorers.....

    Manu
    TP
    Duncan
    Finley
    Barry
    Horry
    Bowen

All can score in some capacity in their scheme......

What the Spurs do have though is one dominant low post presence and 2 perimeter attacking players, which makes EVERYONE on that team a threat.

The Spurs are really good, even though the League gave them a massive advantage by suspending Diaw and Stoudamire......

Raja flops this series so much...and Ginobili flop as much as the average NBA players. As for Parker, I do not think he's arrogant.

Once again VG gets a free pass for the talent HE helped to assemble.

not giving him a free pass. but my understanding is he and dawson didn't see eye to eye about moves that were actually made. and he inherited a salary cap nightmare when he got here.

i definitely think jvg screwed up the mike james thing. i think he was behind that...i think wanting to keep TMac happy was part and parcel with that. but it was a bad move.

my point is..this team didn't have the depth of talent the spurs had 4 years ago when JVG took the job. nowhere near that.

DD, sure guys like Finley, Barry, Horry and Bowen can score. But so can Battier, Head and Juwan. But those are END finishers.

They KEY is guys that START the action. You know this, but I just wanted to emphisize it. The Rockets have to find those attackers and really need a specific THIRD guy in the rotation that we can count on.

Did we actually beat them twice in the regular season? Damn, we could've given them a good fight had we beat utah...oh well.
