He seemed to be in good spirits. I'm excited to watch the game and see if he says anything else.

They are such teases, they act like we'll find something out, or JVG might let out an outburst and the guy says nothing that we didn't already think/feel/know.

Don't know about you guys but if it was me I'd have a hard time on national TV saying that I was "fired".

I thought the same thing... He keeps repeating it like nothing. I think that when you are successful and you actually HAVE a new job, thats they way you should deal with it.

Van Gundy looks much more relaxed already. He seemed almost suicidal after Game 7. TV obviously agrees with him. I hope he stays out of coaching and enjoys life for a while.

I noticed the same. He probably tries to show how hard he is but...you are fired and you say "that's nothing..." JVG be serious

This guy is unbelievable I mean you get fired in the morning and you go on national TV pretending it was no big deal.

It isn't a big deal. He's known for a while he was gone. It's part of coaching. Getting paid $20MM kind of helps ease the pain. Getting fired after 52-30 is better than getting chopped off because your team went 22-52. JVG will be just fine. I never feel sorry for well-paid NBA coaches.

I don't feel sorry for him either but man that is just weird you get fired and the next minute you calling a game on TV pretending like it was nothing. I don't know about him but I'd be pretty ticked off especially with the way the owner handled the situation. I would go on national tv and call the rockets out and tell Les to shove it!

You get fired and it is "NO BIG DEAL" when you have pocketed $20 million + in the last 4 years, and you have signed a sweet deal to do TV broadcasts of the games.

And, he knows that he will be pursued by other teams and offered more money.

JVG is definitly a smart man who knows how it all works, he will get a raise and a new team....if and when he wants it......

As Bum Phillips said " There are only 2 kinds of coaches, those that have been fired, and those that will be fired"

No you wouldn't. That kind of thing isn't done in the NBA very often. In whatever capacity, JVG has a long association with the NBA ahead of him and a public spitting match with Les and the Rockets would be bad for both sides. The wrongness of the mishandling wasn't with JVG, it's with Rockets fans with an IQ north of 50.

JVG is a great coach and can easily get a job in the future. That's why it's no big deal. Everyone in the league knows he is a great coach.
