I'll preface this by saying that while I'm a supporter of gun control, I don't have a problem with anyone who wants to own a pistol or rifle as part of their right under the second amendment; it's the people who need assault rifles to go hunting deer that I have issues with.

Anyway, the people at this gathering are being very misguided, Bloomberg's purpose in going after the DEALERS was to stpthem from selling guns that have been involved in many shootings in New York City (including one shop that was linked to 14 shootings I think). He's not trying to take guns away from anyone in Virginia. All the people at this event are doing is making themselves look like gun toting rednecks who are EXTREMELY insensitive of the fact that the worst shooting in American history just occured in their state a few weeks ago.

This doesn't seem like the right time to have some thing like this in Virginia. Its like when the NRA was having their convention in Denver a month after the Columnbine shooting.

I think it is sort of like a gay pride march, where they need to demonstrate that they feel they have nothing to be ashamed of and believe that their views should be accepted.

    We're here.
    We're armed.
    Get used to it.

...or something like that. If they altered plans because of the V-Tech shooting, it would be like admiting that they had something to be ashamed of.

The NRA was having their annual meeting in Devner, which was planned well in advance and was required by their charter. They cancelled all of thier activities out of respect to the Columbine families. As usual, you should take everything Michael Moore says with a grain of salt, if not dismiss it out of hand.
