Yeah well adelman always had to go through kobe and shaq and they got screwed that one playoffs year. JVG hasn't gotten the rockets out of the 1st round in 4 damn years!

Why would u think so? Gundy had 3 different squads to work with here, and he never got out of first round. I thought Adleman did fairly decently with Sacramento....

Now Van Gundy will have time to wax his body.

I always like JVG. But after 4 years, a different direction might not hurt. I think players nowadays are different than before. You can probably have bunch of teams full of players like Battier and Yao maybe 10 years, who will do whatever the coach tells them to, and work their a$$es off on and off court. But now, players are just spoiled. Discipline in defense and offense is too hard. Maybe JVG's style doesn't fit any more. I am kind of sad to see him go. Wish him well. No matter who we bring in, hopefully the team can do better.

I think JVG is better than ppl give him credit for on here. I wish him well (come coach the Rice Owls ;) ).

But what's done is done. I'll learn to support Adelman though I don't think he's any better. Let's see how he handles Yao if he wants an up-tempo game as Les desires. Maybe Adelman will attract more free agents than JVG?

You could say that about any good coach.

of course. and i'm saying it specifically related to THIS coach and THIS personnel.

now if he and the computer whiz can turn over the roster in one offseason, maybe we'll have something.

in fact, i propose from here on out we refer to Morey and Adelman as SuperComputer and Mr. Chips.

JVG was a good coach, but I think his style doesnt fit in the current NBA. Yes, you need Defense...but you need offense just as much.

He will land somewhere. He's a damn good coach. Hopefully he can learn from his past and change his tactics a bit.

It's not about that, TMac hasn't always worked well with his coaches, it takes a special coach to get the most out of him, he has never been more dedicated and a team player as he was under Grumpy, my point is that there is no profit to alienate TMac.. . then we just go into the trade TMac mode....

Doesn't anyone want to see us win a championship and stop the death cycle?

Because of personnel. Because coaches don't win championships. Players do. Coaches implement systems. I don't believe Adelman's system fits our personnel. And in the NBA today it seems somewhat difficult (despite the rare exceptions--Golden State's trade with the Pacers comes to mind) to completely rework your roster

having more than 2 players who have something resembling an offensive game might help.

thanks JVG, you are one of the best coaches around.
too bad that the injury bug hit us the last couple years, but it wasn't your fault.

I guess the question is what did you really expect over the last four years? Four NBA championships? I mean I am as upset as anyone that we haven't made it past the first round, but we weren't even in the playoffs the four years prior to Jeff. We had home court advantage with our top scorer and rebounder out for 2 months and we lost to a team that should have had home court over us if they didn't choke down the stretch... Only the rockets really know how much of the current roster structure is due to Jeff and how much is CD. Since both are gone I guess we never will know who is more to blame there.

Not to say that I am surprised that JVG was let go, or even that another coach might do a better job. But we aren't exactly a favorite to contend for a title regardless of who the coach by anyone other than delusional fans.

So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbyeeee! JVG seemed like a cool guy, I'll buy him a beer if I ever run into him at a bar. Got to appreciate his deadpan humor.

As a coach, he had a run of bad luck having to deal w/ either one of your two superstars being injured more than 50% of the time. I credit him w/ making the Rockets a defensive juggernaut (except for playoff time). Hopefully the team keeps that defensive intensity in the future, we won't win any championships w/out it.

That said, the prospect of the unknown (OFFENSE!) is pretty exciting. One thing is for sure: the pressure on the next coach is going to be intense. He'll be considered a bust if he doesn't at least equal this year's play

I don't think Van Gundy is the best coach in the league.

But if he had the roster that Dallas or SA has he would have been out of the first round long ago.

We need better players, who knows if we are getting a better coach?

I am fine with Adelman, I can't stand the fact that Grumpy didn't get more to work with, I was very fine with him also.

I just look at our role players and I look at Golden State, Phoenix, Dallas, Utah and I cringe.
