Wang Meng: Chauncey Billups Volunteered to Join Rockets

    In an on-line chat on Tom.com today together with Yang Yi, Wang Meng told the fans that Chauncey Billups had volunteered to join the Houston Rockets at US$ 15M.

    He said of course, the price tag was too high and no other teams in NBA can afford that much money to own more than 2 maximum contract players, now that the Rockets had Yao Ming + Tracy McGrady.

    He further added that Rafer Alston is just not the right starting point guard for the Rockets; he is only good as a back-up point guard; some of his glaring weaknesses are he is not speedy enough; he could change speed on the run, and do some steals once and awhile, but he is not solid in defense, and had not a stable 3-pointer shot/FG%.

    So just purely from a hypothetical view point, just for the sake of discussion/debate purpose, is Chauncey Billups a fit to the Houston Rockets? And if the Rockets really wants a change, how can we make this happen?

    • Trade Tracy McGrady for Chauncey Billups ?
    • Trade Yao Ming for Chauncey Billups ?

    this needs to havce a disclaimer or something...

    if it's true and Chauncy really wants to be here, you sign him to a 1 year MLE and then extend him 7 years even though he wont finish out the contract.

    LOL, maybe he saw that old picture of Rip Hamilton in a custom jersey that was basically the Rockets design with a yellow and white color scheme.

    billups is a good fit here

    only if we have both tmac and yao

    At his age, he should care about the total amount of the contract, I expect he will get one very similar to nash's. a remote chance to land him with a package of battier/alston/head/hayes/picks with a 3-way trade

    I see he's one of those Chinese fans that are buying Iverson jerseys/shirts.

    What is it with the Chinese's infatuation with AI? I know he's probably the most popular NBA player in China.
