Yi JianLian NBA Post: PF Height: 6'11-7'0 WT: 230 Compared him to Pau Gasol, Kevin Garnett. He's a monster dunker, can run the floor/dribble as a big man like Dirk. Can shoot the midranges. Like Yao, he does the post up, then turn around and fades away, he makes it though lol I like him, wonder if we could do something to get him! Alston Tmac Shane Yi Yao Yi and Yao! Yao Yi Yi Yao
I forgot to say, go on YouTube and type Yi Jian Lian, you'd find a lot of amazing stuff. Big dunks like Shaq/Dwight Howard
only way rockets get him is by trading up or if yi/china make a big fuss about not playing for the rockets

you really want to turn the Rockets into the Chinese national team? besides, i think Yi is too skinny to play the PF position for us, what we need is a Cato like enforcer, remember?
I would love to see him on the rockets but playing small Forward. He would be great at passing into Yao Ming. Tracy Mc Grady would go back to be shooting Guard and we would use Battier in a trade to get us a decent athletic, tall Power Forward. The Draft pick should be a playmaker Point Guard.
except....how do we get him keeping Battier (for another trade) and our pick....our greatest trade commodities? If he drops all the way down to the teens where we could concievably trade up...maybe... -V
Yay... A 7 foot Stromile Swift for the Rockets. And before anyone accuses me of being ignorant, I've seen about two dozen games with Yi including the Olympics, World Championships, CBA playoffs, and regular season CBA games. He's physically gifted but I've seen better fail or go on to have mediocre careers. Looks good in highlights, not so good in an actual game with a high level of talent. Not to say he can't be good, but he has a lot of work ahead of him and is a project for anyone who drafts him.
As opposed to San Antoio being the Argentinian team (elson-ginobli-oberto) Why not whatever makes us win. Kato please he was a one dimentional player with ZERO brains
Draftexpress projects him in the top ten and compares him to Chris Bosh. He needs to add some bulk and some better defensive capabilities in his game but after that it's all upside. Who am I gonna listen to? Draftexpress!
Did you read what DraftExpress said about his final games in the CBA? The jist of it was that while Yi showed some of the talent that makes him a legitimate lottery prospect, he was also disappointing, especially at the defensive end. I can see the comparison to Bosh though he doesn't have as quick a first step, but that's a comparison based on body frame, athletic ability, and skillset. Bosh was put in a pretty lousy spot starting from his rookie year, being moved to Center even though his strength at PF was being questioned at the time, and enduring the loss of Vince for nothing in return. He immediately stepped up to the challenge of being 1st option though and was arguably the best rookie in the league after the All-Star break. The chances of Yi failing to match his expectations are high, but the potential for him becoming a 20/9 player justifies taking the risk with a mid lottery pick. Very much so a high risk, high payoff player. Hell, even Swift was widely regarded to be something of a sure product before he stepped on the NBA court. That doesn't sound to be as much of a project as Yi, but we saw how that turned out in the NBA. I never said Yi wasn't a Top 10 pick. I questioned aspects of his game that would prevent him from becoming an impact player in the NBA as talented as he is.
