Funny you should ask. One of the biggest hassles about the project was finding a good program on the PC for this. (Apparently, you can like press a button on a Mac to get it done. ) There are a fair number of freeware and flash-based sites out there that you can use. I forget the name, but there's a shutterfly/snapfish site just for photo slide shows that allows you to create them and export them. However, I needed something a little more powerful because I wanted to be able to select from multiple transitions between slides, add captions, have the ability to manipulate audio (i.e. be able to fade up and out of songs and use only portions of songs and not be limited to dropping in an entire song), import other graphics, etc. I found a comparison/review site and ended up buying something called ProShow for 30 bucks. I really like it, but it crashes a lot probably due to lack of horsepower on my Pc than anything else. The program makes it all pretty easy. Rather than just slapping some songs onto a series of photos, I've been able to change the timing of the montage to sync with the music for emotional effect, to fit the tempo, etc. Similarly, different transitions are easy to select that fit the context/tempo. It's been time-consuming but pretty fun to do.
