Not sure whether Yao Ming flied there to receive this honor..... Could not find any photos on the Chinese websites covering this event....... Maybe all the US based Chinese sports reporters have retreated and went back home as the Houston Rockets' season had ended prematurely and abruptly.....
Surely hope this move won't short-change Yao Ming's summer plan for training together with Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon. http://sports.sina.com.cn/cba/2007-05-16/11422924573.shtml CBA announced today in various Chinese websites that Yao Ming phoned back and informed CBA about the following:- There won't be surgeries of any kind on his toe, knee or shoulder this summer. His left big toe nail is recovering well, and the doctor does not recommend for surgery on his knee or shoulder. He currently plans to return to China mid to end June to rejoin the Chinese national team, and will be available for tournaments in USA (the summer league) and Europe for the summer. But he won't be attending the 4-nations tournament (China, Australia, Italy and Croatia) end June in China.
my concerns too. i'm so looking forward to seeing what the dream can do with yao when he has a chance. now, what's going on?
From today's Tom.com. An article from Yang Yi, one of Yao Ming's closest sports reporter/buddy, reporting on Yao Ming's past week activities, and disclosing some of his activities in the future weeks. How come no time slot for training with Hakeem The Dream Olajuwon ???
Firstly, I enjoy reading the translations of the Chinese articles by Pruyen. For all this, I can only gratefully say 'Thank you, Pryuen'. Secondly, it is my sincerest hope that Yao and Hakeem can have some 'quality... training time' together I think there has been no schedule set to it yet because the both of them have yet to coordinate their own respective schedules fully. Thirdly, regardless of Yao's performance at the playoffs (of which quite a few of you think is soft, pu##y like, etc.), Ihave the utmost respect for the character of the man and his desire to succeed. I do hope that he and the Rockets will have a long future together.
This article appeared today on sohu.com. Judged from what Yao Ming said about his toe nail, this could be an old piece of news already. But then....it did mention about drastic personnel changes in the summer !!
Rockets have the 26th pick. Those names would be interesting but I wouldn't a repeat of last draft when a media source Draftexpress.com spilt the beans on the Rockets intentions for Roy. As for pure speculation, read wish, maybe Brad Newley http://hoopsaddict.com/2007/04/19/scouting-report-on-brad-newley/
Please be careful to note that the article mentioned drastic changes in personnel during this Summer. He did not say DRASTIC CHANGES IN ROSTER PERSONNEL
Because he always lives for other people, lives for the image of chinese basketball. He does not have his own agenda. I am so disappointed. He should use the summer to improve his game here in US, possibly via training with Hakeen Olajuwon, and not by playing some meaningless warm up games...
Hehehe.....not that much news about Yao Ming lately on the Chinese websites. But yesterday Yao Ming "showed" up in Beijing. Thierry Henry from Arsenal arrived into Beijing for a 3-day promotion of "Two People in Everyone", the new promotion slogan/theme of Reebok. Thierry Henry was totally surprised, when the organizer showed him a video of Yao Ming placing him an invitation for the 2008 Olympics. http://nba.sports.tom.com/2007-05-31/0424/10579427.html In the video, Yao Ming said: "Thierry, you're my good brother. Welcome to Beijing. I regretted that I cannot be there to take you around in person. You're welcome to come and watch me play in NBA. And I would love to see you there next year in the Olympics in Beijing. You will surely be the target of alot of media reporters/paparazzis in this trip of yours. Just tell them you are my good brother, and they will treat you well just like they should treat my brother well."
Come on, this is for his country. I don't know why but a lot of people here seems to think that Yao Ming should put a business in front of his country's commitment, not to mention that the CBA will probably suspend him from any more Chinese basketball games if he refuses to participate, and that would be the last thing anybody wants.
I wouldn't mind if Yao didn't play another game for the CBA...i'm a rockets fan and I care what he does here in the NBA...i could care less about the CBA....His #1 commitment now is here to the Rockets who are paying him MIllions.....they need to quit working him to death in the summer and costing us an NBA Championship!!
