The graphics are extremely detailed, the videos you have seen do not do them justice, especially all the youtube stuff. I agree that they will only improve from here. One thing that I noticed a LOT of were the changes in the sound. You can hear fighting in the distance and it sounds closer as you get closer. In addition, there are ambient sounds that are very clear and convincing (ex. in one spot on High Ground, you can hear flies buzzing and they get fainter as you walk away). They have definitely paid attention to detail, have concentrated on weapon balance, and have made a game that (even unfinished) is impressive.
Are you agreeing with what I said, or are you putting the visuals on par with say Gears of War (which has amazing visuals IMO)? I'm assuming you are agreeing with me, although I wasn't sure since you quoted me. FWIW, if Gears is a 10, I'd probably give these visuals around a 8.0-8.5, although the technical aspects of H3's visuals (60FPS IIRC, massive scale, multiplayer graphics, etc.) are probably just as impressive as Gears, and possibly even more so.
I have not seen GoW on my system, so I cannot make an intelligent assessment between the two. I was agreeing with you in that, if someone is looking at the youtube videos, they are not getting the detail in the graphics.
The latest OXM magazine said September because Microsoft didn't want it to overshadow some of its Winter releases and to be released before GTA 4.
The official listing is "Fall 2007," which is anywhere from September to November. I would suspect early November, to hit the XMas season with full impact.
anyone have crackdown with the halo 3 beta? i want to play the beta but i don't particularly want to buy crackdown. is the beta something that comes with crackdown or is it possible that i can go to blockbuster rent crackdown and get access to halo 3 through the crackdown disc?
I don't believe that you can rent it and get the beta. I doubt that Blockbuster got shipments of Crackdown with the beta.
BTW, the graphics are even better than I thought. I had my XBOX set for 480p and last night I bumped it to 1080i. AWESOME!!!
You should be able to rent Crackdown and get the Beta... depends on how old their copies of Crackdown are. I rented from Hollywood and Gamefly, and both had the Beta.
come on dude! get GOW already! oh, make sure you set the res on high this time. GOW is the best game on the 360 right now, the campaign and multiplayer are great. its completely different than halo. its not a twitch game (run and shoot-phoenix suns style), its more grind it out (hakeem and otis thorpe) style. and its completely team based, if you have a bunch of scrubs on your team, u will get taken out in the 1st round.
Yep, its an option on the Crackdown disc. You'll need crackdown in the drive to download and to play the beta.
thanks for the tip. i just rented it from blockbuster and it has the halo 3 beta on the menu. looking forward to tomorrow.
I am awful at that game nad never play online. THen my sister was visiting and I decided to show her what it was like just to showcase the power of the 360. Somehow in the first match I managed to kill one guy and then scored a double chainsaw kill and basically singlehandedly took down the whole other team - which is insane as I am usually dead within seconds. I wish I had impressed a girl with that who wasn't my sister.
I'm ready. I did everything I had to do at work so I can go in around 12pm. My alarm is set at 6:35am... more than enough time to go bowling and have my Minute Maid Fruit Punch with crushed ice ready. by 7am... It's all over. 3 weeks of actual warfare.
