My Opinion: We need a legit 6th man.

I know there are ideas being thrown left and right around here, and that's only expected. I don't think our starting 5 is the best of the best, but it's solid. I think what our team is missing is that 6th man off the bench that just kicks the squad on the floor into another gear.

    A Gordon, Barbosa, Stackhouse, etc.

Everyone has been cryin for the athletic PF, a new PG (boy that's getting old), blah blah blah. Yet the loudest complaint was how our bench was nothing compared to the "contenders." So, in my opinion, that is what the Rockets need to search for. A guy or two to come off the bench to give us good play while some starters get some rest.

Remember the Leveno(sp?) stat? It could mean that our starting 5 was awesome, or our 2nd squad was really bad. I like our bench, but we don't have a 6th man that when he comes in can drop 20 on any given night.

Perhaps this is why many are asking for SF3 back. He could be a Ben Gordon. When he's on the floor, he can play as he wants, as long as he produces. Just as long as when the main guys are in the game he plays within those constraints. Easy said than done of course.

    Again, just my opinion. Cheers.

We do need a 6th man. But we also need a legit PG and PF too. And perhaps a 3rd scorer in the starting lineup.

As much as I want to imporve our bench, I think getting some better starters is more of a priority.

Your asking for a 6th man? We don't even have a legit 3rd man.

We already have one. His name is Shane Battier.

One creative passing PG and we have all the scorers we need....

Insert a Nash like player, or a Nash lite type of player and watch how much better EVERYONE becomes.

We have a couple of good 6th men in Hayes and Alston. They both should be coming off the bench but they aren't because they're the best we have :D

If that legit 6th man is a scoring PG, I agree completely. If Alston came off the floor when Yao did, everyone would love him.

I honestly think getting a passing point gaurd is the way to go. Rafer was advertised as a passing point gaurd...they did a good job in the Toronto office.

We do need a sixth man. As well as a fifth man, and a fourth man, and a third man. I think Battier makes a good 7th man though.

    Haha at the movie reference!

I think we might be all saying the same thing in different ways. I think the 3rd scoring option = 6th man. I mean you could start them all and always have 1-2 of them on the floor at any given time, but it seems like having all 3 on the floor (unless it's crunch time) would be a waste of minutes/energy. Splitting up shots between 3 scores on the floor at once seems like a tough task. That's why the idea of bringing a 3rd scorer off the bench is attractive to me. Let him come in fresh, and ready to kick ass.

    Thoughts?

makes alot of sense. not sure if the slow half court style benefits from having all 3 on the court or if it's perfect due to tmac's passing. on the one hand, we dont have alot of possessions so all 3 can get their share of shots, but if you do have all 3 on the court with the half court style, then it makes every possession more efficient.
