Didn't see this posted. Is Bowen an idiot or what? He should've kept it low after Stoudemaire called him out. Well, you can't say that you're surprised. It's about damn time if you ask me. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2007/news/story?id=2869495 EDIT: UPDATED ARTICLE
Hope Bowen gets suspensions and fines. He needs seriously punishment. No-talent ass who relies on cheapshots. Despicable.
If this was one incident I would chalk it up to "heat of the moment" poor judgement. But this is a pattern and the penalty should be swift and harsh. Suspending him for the series is not too harsh. This is not aggresive play or over-physical shoving this is sneaky, calculated attempts to injure someone. Popovich and the Spurs organization should be ashamed of how they have ignored this. If this was someone on the Rockets I would be complaining just as much that it had to stop.
Is there video on this? I've seen the Amare video, which is just crazy how he totally kicks him in the achilles. Bowen is pretty darn dirty.
Bowen uses a lot of lower body contact that is usually missed by the refs. That's how he defends players. Seems he tried to kick him and also line up his foot with amare's so he could possibly land on his foot. I mean these guys are high flyers..nothing worse than getting hit in the air. Very dangerous.
Kinda hard to tell on this one. The Amare/achilles thing was pretty blatant IMO. You can tell Bowen is stretching his leg out to make contact with Stoudamire's leg. Not only could Stoudamire come down on his foot and roll an ankle (like many of Bowen's victims have done) but he easily could have torn it with Bowen's weight holding it down. I hope the NBA takes a good long look at the incident(s), it isn't a coincidence that many players have gotten hurt and called him out.
Bowen is dirty. I hate the Spurs. To be honest, I only rooted for them when they were playing the Lakers years ago.
Well, on espn, it says that Bowen won't get suspended, but damn.... that's pretty bad. Someone send Madson after his butt and up end him, like he did TJ Ford.
At least Bowen has been put on notice and now he is under the microscope the rest of the way. One more bad move and I see people crying for his head. I think the consensus among players in the NBA before the playoffs about Bowen was that he is a dirty player especially with Vince Carter, Ray Allen and Steve Francis. Now the media has put this in the spotlight so I don't how he can continue to play this way. Interesting to see what David Stern will do if Bowen has a similar incident again. luckily for the league, Bowen is old and will be gone in a few years so no controversy. Still I think he should be suspended especially after what the league did to Kobe for that Raja Bell stuff.
no suspension to be levied against bowen. assessed a flagrant 1 for the incidient. that said, i am amazed at how spurs fans refuse to admit that bowen is a dirty player.
Come on, let's get real. Raja Bell clothlined Kobe in last playoff, got a flagrant 2 and being reject immediately, and was suspended for only one game. In comparison, what Bowen did was not even worth a flagrant.
the one on stoudamire was completely planned out. this one i'm not so sure about. if it wasn't bowen i'd call it an accident but the dude is a proven dirty scumbag so it's absolutely impossible to rule out this being intentional as well.
