    well
    w/ artest we could go

    Tmac
    Artest
    Battier
    Hayes/Howard
    Yao

we could let artest gaurd the pt while battier takes the better of the two swingmen.

that lineup is a scary Defensive lineup

So who on the Rockets is our Michael Jordan to keep the kook in line? You are dreaming if you think it's Yao or Tracy. Plus, Rodman wasn't criminalistic and he never thought of himself as a leader or a guy who should impose himself on other players. Believe me, if it was otherwise, he would have been thrown off the Bulls.

Sacramento won't hand us the keys to Artest's cage without our draft pick. They could easily get trash from the Eastern Conference just as well but to send him to a conference rival in the West is a much different story.

Sign him and bring him on! We need some toughness...we need an enforcer. I am for our taking a risk on one of these type players. With good coaching and the complementary talent and finesse of Yao and T- Mac, we can make it work. Look what Nellie and the Warrior players have done with Stephen Jackson who was a player I really wanted the Rockets to grab. Again, sign him and bring him on!

False. MJ was the lockerroom enforcer who earned Rodman's respect by practicing even harder than he did and by not giving Rodman the time of day if it didn't involve basketball.

Artest can be had for little...I see it as a low risk high reward kind of deal...I know some ppl think it's a bad deal but I don't...I think it could be interesting...

    one possible scenario could be:
sura, lucas, and snyder for artest.

sura & lucas with their partially guaranteed contracts are waivable for the total of $1.5M

i think this would get them under the salary cap and a follow up trade would allow them to get a over the mle or max type player without having to match salaries.

the above also gets the rockets into luxury tax territory which some fans seem set on wanting les to do.

Battier? He seemed to take the "locker-room leader" role this year.

Again, until the very end, Artest responded really well to Carlisle. He responds well to coaching. He wanted to be the focal point on offense in Sacramento because Adelman and Mussleman wouldn't tell him he couldn't be.

Artest is good, but we need a pure PG and/or PF... not SG/SF or SF/PF hybrids. If we get Artest, we'll be stacked at the wings, but without a better PG or PF, we're still gonna be as good as our worst player.

Unless, T-mac moves to PG permanently and Artest can become a SG/SF while Shane is SF, and PF is hayes/howard, C is Yao.

Bring on da Tru Warrior! I am a big Artest fan. Been watching him since the Indiana days. The man can flat out ball. Can't control his personal life but on the court, you want the guy watching your back. He'll give you 20 pts easy. He's also big enough and defends well enough that he can play with anyone. He was the NBA leader in steals. Sure why not...only if we get him, you can't let Van Gundy get to him cause what you'll get is another Bonzi Wells. On the other hand, he did coach Latrell Spreewell. Two major headcases to have on your team.

    Hmm who's worse?

    Latrell Spreewell

    Ron Artest

Don't forget the Chicago Bulls had Dennis Rodman

Houston would be good for Ron Ron. We got lots of rap outlets here. Houston is turning into a Rappin Capitol.

    Paul Wall anyone?!

Surely the team would not consider such an upgrade if JVG was still the coach!

I guess some of you haven't followed Artest's career over the last 3 years?

The guy is a walking felony and worse yet, a walking locker room cancer. We could count on him in one season for:

    1 domestic violence charge
    2 suspensions
    1 cruelty to animals charge
    7 threats of retirement
11 incidents where he thinks he should be the focal point of the offense

Yeah, great pickup there. He is arguably the worst teammate in the history of the league. Let's bring him aboard and just implode the whole damn team.

That is just the way it goes I have had a few other threads that I thought would take off but never did. I think the point is we, as a fan base, are all coming to the realazation that this team needs work. The city of Houston knows we need to make a change, but do not really have the components to do such so we must make an attempt to capture lighting in a bottle.
