Why? I just dont see a Boston Celtics will help a f**k up Lakers franchise! If Mchale were to trade KG to West teams it will be any teams except Lakers! He will defintely trade KF to the East!
Actually you forgot Ben W and his 15 mil salary. Almost matches up itself. Wallace + Thomas or Gordon or Deng + #9 pick for KG all work. OR if Minn insists on not taking Ben Wallace and his 3 more 15 mil years, we get involved by offering to cut the total contract cost by more than half by taking him on Chi: receives KG FOR Tyrus Thomas + 9th pick (via NYK) + Ben Wallace Houston: receives Ben Wallace + A Griffin for Howard + Alston + Sura + 26 pick Minn: receives Thomas + Howard + Alston + Sura + 9th pick + 26th pick You could also put in Deng instead of Thomas if that looks fairer, or we could add in an extra future 1st (2009) to either Chi or Min. Successful Scenario Due to Houston, Chicago, and Minnesota being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston, Chicago, and Minnesota had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
The Rockets could involve themselves in a three team deal to land Lamar Odom. The Lakers send Anrew Bynum and Kwame Brown to Minnesota, who also receive Juwan Howard, Kirk Snyder and Bob Sura from Houston. In return, the Lakers land KG to team up with Kobe, and we get Lamar to run with Yao and T-Mac. Lamar would provide with the ideal PF we need; Athletic, long, can create for himself and others, hit the long ball and defend in the post. This works financially, and if McHale is looking to rebuild, doing so around Bynum and Foye could be the way to go. Almost all of the contracts headed towards Minnesota expire in one or two yrs, leaving Minnesota with a (likely) high draft pick and loads of cap room to make a run at any big name free agents available.
Yeah, I'm sure Mchale picked up all of those guys thinking they would be KG's #2 man. Those guys, except Davis are all role players.
Lamar Odom, if healthy, and if his head is in the game (I can't imagine the pain he had to go through last summer), would be an a great option at PF for the Rox. But Kobe + KG? Hell, if our little trade didn't improve us significantly, we'd make the Lakers one of the top 3 seeds in the West and push ourselves down the ladder. Still, I like the way you think.
If Suns lose to the Spurs which looks more likely now, I think Phoenix definitely takes a look at the following: Trade Shawn Marion + Banks + 4th pick (from hawks) for Garnett. I think Nash has about 2 more quality years left so they need to hurry if they want to win. Also Phoenix is not too thrilled about rookies as they have traded most of their pick the last few years. Garnett would be a monster with Nash spoon feeding him the ball and also the mini twin towers KG and Amare would own the paint. This would put them in better position against PF heavy teams like San Antonio especially now that its clear Kurt Thomas and Amare can't guard Duncan.
I know i was thinking the same thing...however...this trade would deplete them outside of the two superstars (i wanted to include Walton in the trade but was disallowed), and as good as they are, i can't see them winning with just Kobe and KG. Furthermore, i'd be willing to let the Lakers have them if it meant we had a starting line-up featuring Yao, Odom and T-Mac...we'd run away with it...especially if we could put Mo Williams at the point and a creative head coach...okay need to calm down now...getting excited
I don't see him going to the lakers, they have nothing to offer for a player like him. I can see him going to one of the eastern teams just because KG can make them an instant contender.
-Saying KG WILL be traded is quite a stretch. Would it surprise anyone if McHale simply held on to him until he walks for nothing? -The Lakers do not have any material to make a trade. Odom + scrap will not get it done, especially since that offer can and will be trumped by half the league if it comes out he's on the block. KG would have to pull a McGrady for it to happen. -If a trade were to be entertained, the Wolves aren't necc going to look to "stay" competitive - they need either (in order) a ticket-seller that will keep the franchise floating, or a salary dump/youth movement to stat over with. Swapping with NJ for a resigned Carter would be one idea (VC would be unlikely to agree) or chasing a package with Boston were they to end up with the #3 pick (say, #3, Jefferson, Green, Ratliff). There's no trade until Garnett demands one. He's loyal to a fault. Evan
