I like the idea of getting Ron Ron. I would trade Battier + 1 for him.

Artest has that crazy fire that Yao and Tmac need to win. He can score. He can defend the 2.

SF3 is another "steal", if he is waived.

Mike James has been a bad fit in Minnesota, but his game won games with our duo. We can help them get out of his contract, but it may cost us. Perhaps our bad for theirs - Juwon Howard for Mike James and EG. We're not getting anything out of Juwon for the next couple years, anyway. We can roll the dice on that.

NY may have to trade Channing Fry. We could do a similar deal with them, getting Frye and a bad contract, like say, Q for Howard. Or just try to pry Frye for Sura and Head. We could give Cato another run behind Yao.

There are chances to be creative. The Rockets are going to have to do something a little risky and out there, to get over, when we are stuck with Juwon Howard, Rafer Alston, Luther Head and Kirk Snyder as trade assets.

 

With Rafer we can get just about anybody we want. For the All Stars we can throw in Howard. I would suggest going after KG, but I don't want any more puppies to die. (Classic post: "When anyone suggests a KG trade, God kills a puppy.") I don't remember who wrote it, but that was a true classic.

I see exactly where you are coming from and agree with your ideas, especially with our financial limitations, with one priviso and that being no over the hill players please. In the offseason we must find a playmaker starting Point Guard and a tall strong athletic starting Power Forward besides a few more improvements.
