from what i can glean it appears to be Burke. He's been sent down to AAA and is not very happy about it. I'm betting he's rattled the cage enough to get his outright release.

Makes alot of sense with Brooks Conrad being promising.

    Let go?

He should not be back in the minors....why not Lane?

Burke is the best 2b we have on the roster, he should just be a little patient Biggio is about to be done with his 3k hit.

options my man, options. Burke has em, Lane doesn't. And don't you think Loretta is a better second baseman than Burke overall? Hell he did just get an allstar bid there last year. I'd call that scoreboard.

I could be completely wrong about it being Burke, but I do know the boy was downright pissed about being sent down and is very unhappy with organization.

He just hit a big 3 run dinger.....that would be amazingly stupid to simply release him.

Why not send down Albers? That makes the most sense.

Again, I'm speculating right out of my arse here, but I don't think it would be done with the organization in mind. I think it would be as a favor to Burke.

I'm almost positive Burke won't be let go. Yea, he's not as good as Bidge, but we're gonna need someone to play second base for years to come. Loretta is old. Getting rid of Burke would be stupid.

Big mistake if it's Burke. He might never make the allstar team, but he's going to be a solid 2B for someone. Biggio and Loretta aren't going to be here in 2 years, Burke is the future.

Maybe it's Moehler, he's deadweight and has been barely used.

    Moehler was my first thought.

Why would they send Burke down to begin with, if they are going to let go of someone?

    Any more news?

Astros send Burke to Triple A to clear spot for White

The Astros announced today that the club has optioned outfielder Chris Burke to Triple A Round Rock. The announcement was made by general manager Tim Purpura.

Burke, 27, hit .238 with one home run and six RBI in 28 games for the Astros this season, including 21 starts in centerfield and one at second base.

The club also activated right-handed pitcher Rick White from the 15-day disabled list. Burke's demotion cleared a spot for White on the big-league roster.

White, 39, was 1-0 with a 1.54 ERA (2ER/11.2IP) in eight games this season before being placed on the DL with a strained left oblique on April 26, retroactive to April 24. White made two rehab appearances with Double A Corpus Christi where he struck out three and allowed only one run in 3.0 innings.

Im kinda glad I dont have to deal with him...he was getting on my nerves. He struggled during spring training and I was hoping that the tide would shift when the season started, but that wasnt the case. Maybe this will light a fire under his ass.

He has to be livid, he knows he is better than Biggio right now, and moved to CF at the insistance of the Astros to help out the team.

    Dang, this sucks for him.

    Wow, y'all are slipping.

Purpura sending Chris Burke to Round Rock to make room for Rick White? Obviously part of an Astros plan to promote fatness over talent.

wow....i was really surprised at the move, Burke is 27 already....he's fallen into the Astros's let's wait til there 28 before giving them a real chance....he's been on the bench for the last 2-3 seasons and has waited patiently for his turn, and you give him one month and then fall into pressure and bring up Pence, totally unfair to Burke. Probably gonna mess w/ him physcologically, especially since all winter long they were touted him as the everyday CF. I bet almost every GM around the league has been calling us...

    He was hitting very unprofessionally.

He has a higher average than Hunter Pence.....they should have sent Pence back down.....it would make more sense.
