Well in a gay reptile kind of way. I have had my little red ear slider turtle for about a year and a half, swimming and basking in a 55 gallon tank right next to my cpu at home. Yaddle kicks butt. I took him from my niece that did no research on how to care for turtles. He was completely underfed, his growth stunted. He lived in a death box. Yaddle shouldn't have made it but he did. But yesterday I found out Yaddle is a girl. I thought for sure he was a guy (see I still call him he when she is a she). This is taking some getting used to. I always called him "my big boy" and now I am calling him "baby" and stuff. It's just not the same. My wife says I can pretend that she is a boy but it is not the same. I am really confused right now.
I know. But I feel lied to even though I know it's not her fault. She cant help being who she is. A res turtle has to reach a certain size before you can tell their sex. Maybe I was in denial.
I took one of my sisters kittens about 8 years ago. I knew he was a boy because I could see his little nutsac, so I named him Weezer. When he turned 1, he started rubbing up against me and everything else in the house. Purring a lot, just acting all weird. So I took him to the vet to get him neutered because I figured, much like his owner, he was just hard up. About 30 minutes after I dropped him off, the vet called and said "uh...we can't neuter your cat...he is a she." Turns out the nutsac was actually just a spot near her ass with different colored fur. The vet said "poor cat...as soon as she finds out she has a uterus, we have to take it out."
hehe. yeah. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ibAjaV1DHAY"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ibAjaV1DHAY" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> He, I mean she, is even bigger now.
Pick up yaddle and lick the underside of his... errr her shell and see how you feel. The feeling you get deep down inside will tell you everything you need to know. Feel free to post that on u-tube to bask in your new found Turtle, Tortoise, or Terrapin hetro or homonesss.
I have a cat that I thought was a girl when he was a kitten. I named him Veronica. When I found out he was a boy, I had to change his name to Avery. He still acts a little girly sometimes and I wonder if it's my fault.
I bought my first dog from the side of a road, and I had no idea about dogs. I brought it home thinking it was a male dog, and I called it Mr. Bagels. A week later someone asked me why I was calling it Mr. Bagels, because it was in fact a female. I felt like a fool, because the guy who sold it to me said it was a male. I call it Bagels now.
I have no idea what my cats are other than they people at the shelter said. They are both fixed so it makes no difference to me either way.
I think turtles can change sex during desperate times. If you bring in another girl, one of them might flip or turn gay...
