That's what the original story said (when i first mentioned that the fitness coach was invited by the rockets).

It's not mentioned in this report but I assume yes...

I was just surprised to read that according to the Maroussi fitness coach Span has improved on everything over the year. That's good to hear :)

He also states that it's his belief Span will stay in the NBA next season.. I'll translate the whole thing later

Ironically enough, in garbage time at the TC earlier this season, Korver, in the span of a few seconds, swiped the ball from Spanoulis, then crossed him over and took him to the rack. KYLE KORVER did this.

When you make Kyle Korver look like Hot Sauce of And-1 fame, you've got some work to do before you command a rotation spot.

Well he was a big part (leading scorer with 11ppg of Greece, among other things) of a team that
finished the WBCs 2nd with record 8-1,
ddefeated Chinese NT with Yao by 30+ points and French NT with Tony Parker, Diaw, M. Pietrus by 17 and as we all know defeated the USA NT in the semifinals.

Spanoulis was a part of a team with oustanding point guards, ie Diamantidis and Papaloukas (respective MVPs of the regular season and final four in the Euroleague in the last two years) who were and still are more experienced than him. The success of that team was the result of collective effort of a rotation of 9-10 quality players and not just a couple of them, that's just how Euroball works at that level.

IMO it's the team success that counts the most. I prefer him having those stats and playing great in decisive games and moments as a newcomer to the NT, than having 20+ppg for a team with an early exit.

They seem reasonable if you consider Manu's (Argentina, Euroleague) and TP's (with French NT) history in the international stage.

Manu was drafted at #60, Okur a 2nd round draft pick, scouting of international players looks like a gambling game for the most part with many other factors like contracts and clauses, so let's not compare two different things by the same metric.

No appreciation/respect for international bball and Euroleague??

Well the fact that Team USA has failed to finish 1st in the last 6 years in international competitions must mean something, no?

    Euroleague Final Four

True, Greer scored 25ppg for a weak Euroleague team in 2003, but for a championship contender he wouldn't.

For example Tony Delk didn't do much this year with Panathinaikos. Here are his stats.

He started off fairly well but he couldn't keep it up and was left out of the 10 player rotation, sometimes not even in the 12-man roster. Tony had 0 total points in the Final Four and didn't play in the final game.

Couldn't find a video of that 2004 game with Barcelona after he left but here's one later on when we has playing in Rome... This is against PAO again....

The people in green chanting his name are PAO fans and he was playing for the opposing team... :D

tinman's list is considerably longer than that, but just sticking to championship years: Smith, Herrera, Bull, Brooks, "Grandpa"... um, I'm sure I'm missing someone... ;)

    Introduction
JVG - Hi Billy, looking forward to some hard work from you this season we really have need of some quality minutes at the point.

VSPAN - I'm the greatest player in Greece.

    Practice #1
JVG - Would you quit turning the ball over every time you touch it?

VSPAN - I'm the greatest player in Greece.

JVG - Well right now your Rafer's b**** so why don't you STFU and work on your turnovers!

    Practice #12
JVG - Billy I need you to play more of a two guard type roll for me so your going to have to work on your shot some. I'm hoping that maybe you won't turn the ball over as much playing the two.

VSPAN - I'm the greatest player in Greece.

JVG - Billy I really don't care about what you could do in Greece the fact is I need you to help this team where you can and right now your not providing much.

VSPAN - If you read what that DaDakota guy on Clutchfans says about me you would know that I am going to be the next Tony Parker if you play me all the time.

JVG - You know Billy I don't think that you understand what it means to earn playing time do you?

VSPAN - Sniff..Sniff I'm gonna call my old coach in Greece and tell on you!! Then you'll be sorry!!

And the Rockets get better by addition and subtraction at the same time.

Thats a nice example play there DaDa... only problem there is that KJ has a couple positive plays you can reference in the history of the NBA. The only thing Billy has done is whine and tell people how good he is.

Oh and JVG leaving(which I'm not opposed to) a Billy staying(if he's not a quiter) don't have anything to do with each other. JVG leaving will have a much larger effect on the fate of the Rockets than Billy staying I guarantee you that.
