I voted "No" but I dont think JVG is doing just fine. I dont want massive change on this team. One more season, if it didn't work then we rebuild the team.

The team DEFINITELY needs a new direction. More desperately than most realize. I will be stunned if JVG is extended.

well an under utilized bench is what's hampering yao and tmac to be healthy and finding a 3rd scorer

I see nothing on this bench that rivals some of the other benches on good teams in this league... and that includes assuming V-Span develops into a Lindsay Hunter clone (unproven), and Snyder develops into a Pietrus-type player (also a reach).

And blaming the lack of a bench for Yao's broken leg, and T-mac's chronic back problem is a big-time cop out.

He got 9 mins (8.8) in 32 games , not 82... The rest he didn't play in..

Manu had more minutes in his first month than span did in his whole year. So maybe it did have something to do with it....

Some interesting posts here. My problem with JVG staying is I think he's probably been as flexible as he knows how. And I don't believe Les is down with him at all, and yet he probably realizes how well JVG did during the regular season.

Bottom line is I believe there are reasons JVG should go, I believe there are other reasons Les should not bring him back. But if Morey needs a little breathing room in his first year as GM (which JVG would provide) I can still see it happening.

I don't think it's the right move, and if it happens I'm not really going to believe anything either Les or JVG say about it. But if the Rox pr machine is to believed, there are "no worries".

But I want more hope than the current course has given me.

My friend Tom Danehy is a sports writer for the Tucson/Phoenix area and he said the best way to judge if he's gone is what the Chron says, what have they been saying? Do they want him gone?

You have got to be kidding. Feigen is the most ritualistic beat-writer I've ever read. JLopez is a JVG fan. Blinebury spends more time attacking T-Mac and Yao than wondering if anything deeper is going on. Justice flies with any prevailing win.

I wish Fowler was young and gave a damn. I wish Sefko was young and still there (McClain still being a beat-writer is not equivalent to his bizarre articles in the DMN).

The Chronicle is as obsessed with JVG as this bbs is, the only difference is that he's rarely criticized there. Capers was a disaster long before anyone began throwing blame in print.

JVG is still skating... and I have to give him props for that.

I figured most wanted JVG gone but I did not think it would still be nearly 3-1 that he go.....

    Wow.....

Les.....if you are reading this and I know you are.....your core group of fans is a reflection of the entire city of Houston.

You want rabid fans, get rid of JVG.

Heck this poll would probably be much worse if some of the rowdies had not voted for JVG and his free tickets.

    :D

Would it change anyone's opinion if Utah ultimately advanced and won the Championship this year?

Yeah... listen to fans less than a week after a season ending loss. That will totally make sense in the long run.

Is there any sort of video game where people can pretend to be NBA owners and get all of that out of their system there?

I am not sure, but in soccer their is football manager types of games and they are a blast to play as you run your team and make trades.

    As for the main point.

Les knows that fans were yelling for JVG to be fired 2 years ago, and personally asked him to be more positive, especially in the press.....and JVG made fun of being asked to do that, and was just as negative as always.

Now, as a boss, Les has to be FURIOUS that JVG ignored his direct order, but my guess is that he let him slide because of the contract and the team winning, but now that the team underacheived all the annoying things JVG does......will bite him in the butt.

I have to believe that JVG knows that his welcome is JUST about worn out, he will bail in order to keep his reptutation in tact.

Yeah, it would mean that if JVG could make adjustments in the playoffs that the Rockets would have had that chance.

lol, there are only 609 votes! A sold out Toyota Center holds ~20,000 fans? Then add thousands of fans who watch on TV? We are the vocal minority here. Any GM that does anything based on this board's input as the deciding factor deserves to be fired.

Yes, but this is a clear indicator of what the overall fans of the Rockets think.

Most exit polls do not poll everyone...only a percentage and extrapolate it out.....

No it is a clear indication of what the posters on this forum think. Nothing more or less. There is nothing scientific about it. If I was bored enough I could make a 100 different user names and vote with all of them.

I think you would need 100 different IP addresses to do that.....I could be wrong though....

And this board is a great indicator of what Rocket fans think, you will not find a place where people are more tuned in to what the Rockets are doing or should be doing.

People are tired of JVG, Les knows this, and hopefully he will act accordingly.
