well we have tmac. nash needs marion and bell and others too besides amare. u pair amare next to tmac, that pick and roll would be NASTY.

but i dont think amare will ever be a superstar like yao can. amare just can't score consistently if an offense was ran through him. he's like boozer - can score w/o being first option

but you have to admit, he has been knocking the midrange jumper down with consistency this season. after watching okur and boozer pushing yao to where they want him, it's refreshing to see a center that controls the paint instead of trying to shoot around it or making slow turns into the help defender ending up in deflections and turnovers just about as often as fouls and free throws. granted, i feel that officials in the utah series and before are much too quick to call an offensive foul on yao when he lowers his shoulder or initiates any kind of contact down low whatsoever, making him hesitant to be aggressive toward the basket on offense. like akeem said, yao can work on his footwork this season and perhaps be better at getting a strong position with his own moves for a short shot or being able to (as amare does) get in a position to make the layup/dunk as well as getting the and1.

    F'king b.s.

Writers pretty much hate Yao...last year he got passed over by Shaq and Ben. Shaq and Yao both missed the same amount of games, but Yao had much better numbers. He can average 30 ppg 11 rebs, he will never win all-NBA first selection or win the MVP even his team goes deep into playoffs.

While this year Yao gets passed over by undersized, meek dunker who shys away from contact when he is about to get dunk on, doesn't play defense, and gets all points from Nash.

Yao is the superior player, he is offensive skill set is much deeper, and he puts way more effort in on defense, the numbers will show it.

No good writers can go to hell. What makes them so qualified for selecting these awards? I guess it's about who everybody likes like everything else.

also, I don't think Yao has completely recovered from his injury this year. Last year at the end of the season he was amazing, and looked much quicker than he did this year in the late season and playoffs. His stamina and quickness were not there. It's not his fault, but Amare getting first team over him (or Duncan, who is more deserving than Amare to win votes over Yao) is not a huge upset in the first place.

When Amare doesn't have spacing (a product of Phoenix system + Nash), he jacks up shots at a Jermaine O'Neal type FG%. The only thing that distinguishes the two is Amare's athleticism, which he probably wouldn't be able to use with a bruiser like Boozer pushing him around and Kirilenko coming over to help out. Teams play Yao with A LOT more respect than Amare, and when the Rockets weren't knocking down treys in the postseason it was very crowded in the paint.

    Yao > Amare.

dude, yao missed 32 games. i'm sure he would get first team if he was healthy. u need to relax. yao is getting more respect by the media by the day (before that jazz series anyways). they're considering him a superstar now.

YOU CANT GET 1ST TEAM WHEN MISSING ALMOST A THIRD OF THE SEASON!

2nd Team is great for Yao since i thought he would be completely off the ballots...

    CONGRATS!!!

And the rest of you don't even try to start ****, cause the first 2 teams are perfect.

exactly. i hate how some yao fans just claim yao got this b/c yao is hated. i was shocked he would get 2nd team b/c he basically missed half a season. but him being on 2nd team shows the respect he's finally getting.

yao will get plenty of 1st teams as long as he stays healthy. i mean, does he have competition at the position since duncan is a PF?

Something is wrong, there is no way for Amare to get 36 first team votes and 494 points. 129-member means 129 votes, lets assume Amare gets 93 second team votes.

    129 - 36 = 93
    5 x 36 + 3 x 93 = 180 + 279 = 459

How can Amare get 494 points?

I'm not going to argue that now. Pre-injury Yao was the best big man on the planet. I'm glad that enough people who vote remembered to get Yao on the 2nd team.

just hope he can even be better than that next yr pre-injury. he still shot barely 51% for a big man. should be up in the 55%s like duncan/shaq

That is BS. Shaq misses a big chunk of the regular season almost every year recently. That didn't stop him being selected to the 1st team, until this year.
