I think Cuban was shortsighted in letting Nash go. That's probably his worst mistake so far as an owner. He got tired of the Mavs keep exiting in the second round, but those were the times when Shaq was still in LA, and Duncun was at the top of his game. So Cuban prolly felt like something needed to change hahaha. You guys know the rest, all of the sudden Shaq left to play in Miami, then the Spurs got old. Gosh, I am just glad that the rocks have not make that kind of mistake so far.

Dallas actually has some work to do. Despite their 67 wins, there isn't much depth on the team.

I'd only consider Dirk and Howard untouchables, personally, and even then I'd listen to blockbuster offers.

Terry will be tough (but not impossible) to move, as he's saddled with a huge contract. $8 million is a bunch to pay any shooting combo guard, and he'll be due $11.4 million come 2011.

Harris is severely overrated, but he's cheap while on his rookie deal. He's barely more than back up material because of his quickness and low turnovers.

Dampier and Diop are a pretty good tandem, but Dampier got exposed as being less than worthless against running teams in the Warrior series. If some sucker out there is willing to take his remaining 4 years and ~ $40 million, they've got to do it.

Stack is a free agent, but I'm sure he'll resign at a discount.

No one else on the team comes close to making a difference. It's sad that they played George and Buckner as much as they did.

If they can move Dampier and/or Terry and get decent return, I think that's where they have to go. Make a hard pitch to Mo Williams (longshot) and draft an athletic swingman (numerous at the bottom of the 1st).

Stack is one of the their few players with cojones. He kept them from getting swept and gives them attitude without looking like a darn fool (Terry and Howard's punkish false bravado). I hope Stack leaves, they will be an easier out.

If I were the Mavs I'd try to trade Harris for a bigger, better shooting, guard to compliment Terry. I'd also resign Stack as the 6th man. Harris isn't a bad player, but in the playoffs good teams know he is the guy they can cheat off of.

So what I hope is Terry and Stack go but they keep Harris on the idea he will develop a jump shot :). Dirk will ge smothered without those guys to make you pay.

As for Dallas being better without Nash and Nash/Dirk being better, IMO ludicrous. How we forget the healthy Dirk-Nash-Finley Nellie coached team made the WC finals in a deeper WC than today and might have beaten a much tougher Spurs team than todays Spurs team if not for injuries. That Mavs was very close to the title like 4-5 years ago and Dirk/Nash were great.

My plain hatered aside for the Mavs and Cuban, If I were them I would go after Garnett cause the Mavs just might have the pieces to pull it off.

Add an allstar Josh Howard + Devin Harris and 1st round pick and maybe the Wolves start talking.

If that fails then propose the same deal to Indy for Jermaine Oneal.

Clearly the Mavs lack inside scoring and they were exposed by Dirk's inability to postup guys down low. Look at the Jazz they got Boozer going crazy on the Warriors.

I love it! If we can't have it, I hope "little d" and sa don't get it either. For the rest of you that hope that (a texas team or someone from the West wins it)...you're not a true Rockets fan. Rockets or bust!

Most important move for them is to resign Stackhouse. Otherwise, keep it the same.

Perhaps the Rockets can make a run at Stackhouse. I am sure he is upset, because he was the only one that showed up. What a better vengeance for the lack of team effort than signing with the Rox? Signing with the Spurs I guess...

The knowledge that Dallas f-ed up so badly on that deal is the only thing that cheers me up nowadays. ;)
