No, but I'm sure we can get a coach that doesn't need ALL of the above in order for his one and only game plan to work

Jasikevicius is still a solid player, no need to play him in front of Davis or an upside that Monta Ellis has....

comparing Spans World Championship performance is overblown....lets be real, there was some luck, especially in his threes....but he played well

Span is all about hustle and heart, I just have a feeling and from what I have seen, Span will be a good player

don't let my sig fool you, I made it only for the haters

He had a few lucky 3s....That was it...And he only took so many of them because he was making them...He's not a player that will press his shot if he's not feeling it... The rest of his game was what he ALWAYS did with PAO or the Greek NT.... And his game is not one that can be misleading with luck... You need luck to hit 3s but luck won't get you repeatedly past heinrich though...

Rudy was a motivator, Phil Jackson did ok as a motivator, Red Aurebach....

Oh, what do they know anyway?

Rhester - what about a little bit of ZONE to mix it up and slow down the Jazz?

Oh, wait JVG doesn't use zone.

you're assuming jvg doesnt motivate...thats the problem. Motivation is done in selective spots and in various ways.

but again, if you think jvg doesnt motivate, just remember the note that chuck hayes was given by jvg before chucks big performance in game 2. that pretty much eliminates the "motivational" aspect of the argument.

one more thing about the rudy t as a motivator. I just remember a clyde story, when he was talking about how they were down in the series and clyde was feeling bad and unsure of himself. Who helped clyde believe they could win? it wasnt rudy. it was dream.

By this logic, Avery Johnson should be fired too. And coach of the year Sam Mitchell shouldn't get a new contract. And we should only even consider coaches that have already won a championship.

If Lopez is right and VG's fired because the fans didn't like him, despite racking up our best record in a decade two years running, despite being named by his peers as 4th best in the league and by most of his players as the best they've ever had, I hope you'll take some personal responsibility for the success or failure of the next coach.

This board is probably the number one most accurate gauge of what the fans are thinking. You can bet Les reads it or has someone read it for him. And you have personally led the "Fire JVG" crusade and all its shrill, annoying supporters over the last few years. If the next coach doesn't do a better job (injuries or not, bad roster moves or not), I blame Les first and you and fans like you second.

He's a basketball coach. He's not trying to sell you knifes that can cut through shoes. If his players like him and he's winning, who cares about his personality. If Les wants style over substance than he's short sighted, but I guess we'll all wait and see what happens.

The idea that the Squad Jeff took over wasn't good is crazy
and those 5 yrs of no playoffs
include one season where they were COASTING into the playoffs until Rudy got sick
    and
Another where they had 46 wins. . the most wins with out getting into the playoffs

so I think that is kind of a misnomer and they squad was definately improving

thats all I'm saying, some people take his points as proof which is IMO overblown...he is not a good three point shooter and everyone knows it...maybe he can work on it, but I do not see him taking three point shots all the time, I want him to push, penentrate and dish...

    I agree
Only JVG DEMANDS he have JVG-TYPE PLAYERS
    or they won't work
    he demands yesmen and robots

I would just love to see what Rick Adelman's passing, cutting offense would do for this offense and T-Mac, even Yao, an underrated big man passer IMO...

anecdotal...you are the one providing the vague "evidence" of rudy and pat.

Chuck hayes started in his post game interview after game 2 about the note...and clyde has told that story on the radio. but i guess those guys are lying.

actually, during the series the 3rd quarters were not that bad.
dont you remember that the rockets were trailing at halftime in every game???

but you need guys to perform that. They dont have particularly good cutters and if they can cut (like snyder or hayes) those players dont have good enough shots to bring the defense out on them. the defense can sag back.

the rockets have 2 weapons on offense.

Regardless of what coach you hire, if they are experienced, they have been fired some where else. Sure another coach MIGHT do better, but then again they MIGHT do worse. The grass is always greener on the other side.

Yea I do . . why is that?
Were the Jazz more Motivated? Did they come into the game with a better game plan?

The Jazz are *not* more talented than the Rockets
They just maximize their talent more.

They don't ask their players to do things they cannot do

Why ask Yao to Guard Boozer?
Why ask Rafer to play 40+ minutes?
Why ask T-Mac to have a HEart?

Didn't the Jazz just score 116 pts on 47.7% shooting against GS' zone?

demotivating?.. the players like playing for him!! he is honest and upfront with them....
TMAC loves the guy and says he wants him back....so did Rafer and Battier...Yao also said he wants him back but took a few shots at JVG (maybe just out of frustration)....
