Hey, I just picked up Eddie Griffin in my fantasy league with my last pick. I thought I would take a chance on him instead of a low 20 pointer that never has a chance of getting a start (barring injuries). So my question to you guys, what can kind of numbers do you think Eddie will put up this year? Is he worth holding onto? Or should I drop him and pick up a more consistent bench chode?

I think you should keep him. Dont play him as a starter though. He will have a great rookie campaign and will probably help your fantasy team. I myself has 4 rookies in my fantasy which includes Griffin, Battier, Curry, and Torres. :D

Eddie Griffin is a keeper IMO. He'll get better. I remember his first SL game. He looked bad, out of sync with plays at first, heck he got 2 fouls in the first min of his first game, one of the fouls he got he just straight jumped right over a player trying to block the guys shot(I mean he really did, his legs when over the guys head). His shot was way off and looks like he forces it, I thought the same thing many are thinking right not, why is he shooting so far away for such a big guy, I mean he was shooting pracatically standing on the 3pt line, and I thought why doesn't he just stand behind the line if he's going to shoot that faraway. My opinion besides his ovious neverousness as well as his excitment to show his talent was that he's well young and raw. If I remember correctly he shot like 3 of 12 or something of that stat. I started to doubt what all these scouts were saying about how ready he is. About how he might be the best players in this draft (and I had seen S.Battier and J. Richardson and they are unbelieveable) and I really though of EG as maybe a JBender or KBraynt, a guy with raw talent but not mentally ready(someone trying to do too much).

But in the following games and I mean really game by game he got better. He just keep improving allaround as well as scoring wise. He does have an outside touch and he'll hit those things in rows, or back to back often. He shoots on the 3pt line because he's comfortable shooting it anywhere, he doesn't care, he can make those shots anywhere out there, he doesn't have a spot that he uses. He takes so many shots cause he usually makes them. If you notice in warmups he never takes the same shot in the same spot. He just shoots it where he is then and he makes them, heck I haven't seen him shoot 2 3pt practice shots in a row. He' also good at getting open outside. He's got that knack of doing great things in a row like block, or rebound or score consecutively, explosive I mean. And when he started to flow with the game he looks so good out there. What I mean is when he moves around and gets open he knocks them down, instead of standing in one place and waiting for the ball. Everyone knows he can rebound and block(he's above average in those cats. even with NBA players) esp. if you face up on him, he's gonna get you. But he also is an offensive threat. He can spot up anywhere on the floor, he can post up and he's got a pretty turnaround jumper and fadeaway. He's not a player that goes out looking to score, but he can get big numbers before you even know it. I mean he could go a complete quarter scoreless or not even take a shot then open the next quarter and hit 3-4 shots in less then 5 mins. Game stats for EG can be deciving since alot of his stats can come in bunches.

If your looking for Rebounding and blocking eddie should definitely get stats here more than anywhere else. He practically touches or tips half the rebounds that come his way. His blocking is unbelieveably good. He has such a long reach. I don't see how he could average less then 1 a game even if he only plays 10mins a game.

He does have his weaknesses too. He gets faked alot so he fouls alot too. Offensively he's not going to beat anyone going to the basket. Actually it's not his move to drive in. He not good at dribbling and moving at the same time, or creating a shot with the ball in his hands. I never seen him dribble more than 5 feet. He's not good at defending players that take it to him. He's plays nothing like a SF not that that's a weakness. He's alittle undersized against other NBA PF's but he's got the body to get there(he's like his cousin Tim Thomas, about 6'10, 230lbs).

All and all I'm just trying to say he's much better than what he's shown in SL games and of course the one pre game. EG is going to be one of the better rookies this year and all those things those scouts said look true(but then again they said he was a mean guy beating up teamates but from what I seen on the court he was high fiving everyone). All this is just IMO. Sorry I lost track of what the main thing we were talking about, didn't mean to go of track and talk so much about other topics other than fantasy stats but anyways I would Keep him : )

Thanks for loooooong description of his game. I'm sure he'll be a great player some day. I guess I'll rephrase my question. What do you think his box score will be? How much is gonna play? What kind of production is he gonna be able to give? 15-20 mins? 5 rebs? 10-12 points?

Now that you got Willis (who sadly is also on my fantasy team), do you think Griffin will get any less or more minutes, and/or production? Also, do you guys have any idea how many minutes Willis will be getting?
